I'm half Mexican and honestly if it wasnt for Vela, I probably wouldnt give two craps about Mexico. I am also American, with a mixture of Dutch, Spanish, Italian, and Norwegian sprinkled in there. Basically a mutt lol. I dont see how you have to support someone just based on race. (even though I dont NOT support them)

Whatever. I think you guys are just trying to be different and cool. Seriously. It's ridiculous. I'm 50% Russian, and I wouldn't even consider rooting AGAINST the American's under any circumstance. But I guess that's just me. I mean, some of you were outright rooting for Algeria to win today? Why? Is OSUBLAZERFAN Algerian?

I guess I must have had an advanced idea of "Cool" to be rooting for the Netherlands back in 1994. It is rather rare for an 8 year old to know so well what "cool" is. Thats fine if you choose to cheer for your country based on where you live, and how you are raised. But to presume you know why others cheer for who they do, is weak at best.

This post stinks. You act as though the US are the only team that have had unfair calls. People make errors, you won the game, stop bitching about the disallowed goals and carry on with the next game. You won the group, that is the best you could of done, not sure how much more explaining needs to be done.

No shit. Still doesn't make sense to root AGAINST the American's. Eh. Fuck it. Go USA!

So in my instance.. me rooting for the Netherlands is OK, until they meet up with the USA, then me rooting for the Netherlands is not ok then, because its against the US?

No explanation needed. Despite playing better than any team in their group the American's were 2 minutes away from going home because of poor officiating. That is a fact. You soccer dorks may be used to shitty officiating and chalk it up as just part of the game, but I don't. I don't know, I'd prefer my games to be played fairly and *gasp* I like it when the best team wins/advances. And I say soccer "dorks" affectionately. You guys have been cool about teaching me the game. But I do have the right to have my own opinion about it despite my limited experience watching.

No. I have a problem with American's rooting against the U.S. when they don't have any affiliation/blood line/whatever with the opponent. But whatever. Root for whoever you want!

Then why assume that we do it to be cool?

I didn't say it was part of the game. Show me where and I'll stand down. All I'm saying is, I've been through the same emotions as you have years ago. I have seen countless calls against Arsenal that have been absolutely ridiculous but there is nothing I can do about it and I know that the football associations won't do anything about it.

In other news, I love how open this World Cup is. I get the feeling that every team can be beaten at any time. Germany beat Australia 4-0 and then lost to Serbia. Fantastic!

I just hate when people root for the 'good' teams. I can't think of how many Brazilian 'fans' I've met since the tournament started.

lol. Yes, that I can get on board with. I will admit that the Brazilians are a blast to watch, but in no way would I be a "fan." This conversation actually got me thinking. I kind of wish the Russians would have made it to the WC. I'd like to see how I would react watching them. Would I root for them? I have no idea. Certainly not against the Americans. But otherwise? Perhaps.

Does Canada have a teaam? :)

    Ok.......

The reason i dont root for US, to be honest, is because of people like you... fucking americans who bash the sport 3 and a half years out of every fucking 4 years and when the World Cup comes around everyone seems to care about soccer and know what the fuck they are talking about... im not trying to be cool, i am romanian though, but they are not in the cup so that is not relevant

I root for the US Hockey team, the US "dream" team and every other US team, not the soccer team though...

Fucking americans who hate soccer can go back and watch baseball, soccer doesnt need you...

Ok. Were you rooting for Algeria or the Americans? Just curious. Be honest. And in all fairness, I think I'm lashing out at OSUBlazerfan. You just took the brunt of it. Haha....
