Re: OT: Lakers' downfall. Well at least it's good to know that "chicken little" syndrome isn't just restricted to Blazers' game threads.
Re: OT: Lakers' downfall. What's most interesting about this loss is that the Lakers' defense completely fell apart in the fourth quarter. Their offense is fine: they looked like they killed off the pesky Pacers with a 17-0 run to end the third. But then came the fourth and they just fell apart. Flashback, anyone? And their defense was supposed to be what took them over the top this year. Now, is their defense in general getting worse, or is it something about the Pacers? Were they zoning and the Pacers hitting outside shots? Or is it that the Pacers, like the other team to beat the Lakers, Detroit, have a very zippy little PG? Anyone see the game and care to comment?
Re: OT: Lakers' downfall. The pacers also beat the Celtics... you aren't going to win them all. LA still has the 2nd best record in the NBA... and they lost on the road in the last second. What is odd is that the Lakers only have 2 losses but they are both to the east. Interesting...
Re: OT: Lakers' downfall. How much were they ahead by going into the fourth quarter? If you're up by 15 with 12 minutes to go, then it's a bit more of a disaster when you lose at the last second. (As every Portland fan knows. The word "meltdown" springs to mind.)
Re: OT: Lakers' downfall. Isn't that the same sort of stuff that ruined the other forum? You do realize, even though the Lakers suck, they are our closest competition and banter amongst competition is a good thing.
Re: OT: Lakers' downfall. This truly is a premature and retarded thread. But I like the premise none-the-less.
Re: OT: Lakers' downfall. I think its severe overreaction. You don't win every game... They didn't play well down the stretch. Are they suppost to play well all 48 minutes and win every game?
Re: OT: Lakers' downfall. There was no defense to fall apart...The Lakers didnt play any good defense the entire game minus Trevor Ariza
Re: OT: Lakers' downfall. This is a long season. Every team will have winning streaks (mileage may vary) and every team will get kicked in the teeth for a stretch(again, mileage may vary). Yes, even the Timberwolves will win a few games in a row at some point.
Re: OT: Lakers' downfall. Rasta beat me to it...it's not so much that they lost on a last-second tip-in (not a huge deal), but that their vaunted defense gave up 118 to Indiana.
Re: OT: Lakers' downfall. Michael Jordan wouldn't have lost this game. Unless he put the team together.
Re: OT: Lakers' downfall. Call it petty on my part, but I'd be happy seeing OKC lose every single game. The city would deserve it. More precisely the owners would.
Re: OT: Lakers' downfall. I would be willing to bet that even OKC has a small winning streak this year. It will happen. I think the team that set the record for futility in the NBA (I think it was 13 wins for the season) even won a few in a row at one point. I think it might have only been 3, but they did.
