I'd take Telfair over Sergio too, but it wasn't Sergio or Telfair. It was Telfair or Pritchslap 3 teams into getting us Brandon Roy.

I'll take that one every day of the week.

I get angry every time I see a mention of Telfair. Al Jefferson is averaging 22.5 points and 10.4 rebounds. That was one of the dumbest draft decisions I've ever seen.

so hang on a second...you're saying a young point guard, at around the 4 year point in the league, (and 22/23 years old) can actually improve? And like, make a leap or something? Now that's crazy talk.

Obviously Bassy is a freak of nature. That stuff never happens. Why does KP continue to screw us by getting young players with "upside"? Who is he, Jay Bilas?! I WANT STEPHEN A. AND JON BARRY TO RUN OUR DRAFTS! We'd have veterans, instead of Oden!

Bassy really is a good guy. He was one of my favorites in the locker room. There's no reason for any Blazers fan to root against him (except for when we play the wolves).

I root against him because he's kind of a tool. Just the way he presents himself rubs me wrong.

He's so good he's worth trading a chance at Chris Paul or Deron Williams so we can get Martell Webster!

I half expected to open this thread and see Kingspeed say something like, "best pg in the league?"

Anyway, good for Bassy I always like to see former Blazers find a measure of success, but I'm sure glad we've got Brandon instead.

Again, although it wasn't the best move at the time, the cards probably wouldn't have fallen the way they have and we likely wouldn't have Oden, Roy, Aldridge, etc. Thank God it's worked out the way it has... otherwise, things would be really ugly.

telfair is still sub-backup point guard quality. he's a bad player. mchale has had some success in his coaching stints. he should coach full time, there are many terrible coaches in the league, i'm sure he'd be at least average. of course, it's probably much more tiring and taxing than serving as a gm.

Bringing a gun stuffed into a pillowcase on the team plane would be an example, wouldn't it?

I'm glad to see Telfair be able to stay in the league, and put up numbers. I always enjoyed watching him play, had a little flash and confidence about him like Jerryd does, but Jerryd seems to have more of a desire to win.
I think Bassy will be able to stick it in this league for awhile, but he won't be a guy you can win or go all the way with.

I thought it was in his "man purse" that looked like his girl friend's? Didn't he take it out and hide it in the plane's pillowcase?

why not? Avery Johnson was a guy the Spurs went all the way with.

You took so much heat over that position for so long. It's part of being a realistic Blazers fan, I guess...

Re: OT: Telfair 17 pts, 11 assts, 5 game win streak

Yes, he deserves credit. The turnaround has been pretty substantial and is not really, as far as I can tell, due to improved health. In fact, Miller (arguably their second-best player) has been hurt.

Maybe the roster isn't so bad, after all. Kudos to McHale. Maybe it was the bad coaches... which is McHale's fault for hiring them.

Either way, though, he does deserve credit for this. We'll see how long it lasts...

Why isn't this thread in the OT forum, Ed?
