Tonights a huge night for us... Williams is out for the jazz...maybe the bobcats can pull one out. Mavs are playing in orlando if we win...and they both lose.. finally pulling away...and a win on wed will give us distance.
I've criticized some of Hollinger's statistics before, but despite that I find it interesting that he projects that a team in the Western Conference would only need 44 wins to make the playoffs, and that Portland would have to finish the season at or better than (14-21) to get there. I think that number will go higher, but I just had to stop and look at that for a minute. The games are coming and going one by one, and we're running out of "loss opportunities". I said earlier that we'd need to go (5-10) or better against the top Western teams for the remainder of the schedule to get 50 wins. Since then we've beaten Utah and New Orleans, so now that record from here on out needs to be (3-10) or better.
Chicago beats NO. Memphis beats Houston. Denver beats OKC by 1. (DAMMIT!) GSW leading Phoenix. Let's go Golden State!
Denver also barely beat the Spurs who were missing Duncan, Parker and Ginobili. Denver is good, but certainly no world-beater.
Jazz getting killed by the Kings. On the road. Of all the playoff teams, we're the most similar to the Jazz. Great at home, stinky on the road.
. . . and this is with Deron Williams back, a borderline All-Star in Okur, a defensive stud at SF in Brewer, and a more than capable PF in Millsap. I'd say Utah, Houston and Phoenix have a lot more to worry abou then this Blazer team.
And yet Utah wins the game... New Orleans, Denver, Utah, Phoenix all won and we were the only team to lose. GREAT!
Ugh, Chicago choked away a late lead and is going to OT in Dallas. Sure would be nice of the Bulls to pull out a victory. EDIT: No such luck, bummer
Phoenix losing big time to Philly tonight, Houston losing to Milwaukee and New Orleans losing to Memphis. This could be a good night to make up for the OKC night.
Great night if things go the way they should. I think Houston is the most important team to get some separation in the standings on. They are unhealthy and could make a push at the end of the season if they get their guys healthy.
It's a good day to be a Blazer Phx loses to the Sixers Rockets are about to lose to the Bucks NO is going fown to Memphis . . . maybe not but they are losing and either NO or Miles is going to lose. Two day rest and putting distance between the teams chasing the Blazers . . . slowly taking the sting out of the Thunder loss.
