Re: GOOD JOB KP I thought we would make a 1st exit. I don't know how anybody who is a die-hard blazer fan cannot call this season a success.
Yup. It was a great season. It sucks that it had to come to an end in April, but the future is bright. We need to retool a little bit, but the foundation is built and Roy continued to elevate his game and we have a lot of good pieces. Thanks Blazers for the fun ride!
Re: GOOD JOB KP Once we got HCA we had no excuse not make it out of the 1st. That's the bottom line. Nate didn't have this team ready to play.
Re: GOOD JOB KP 95.5 the Fan for what it's worth back around the trade deadline (Kenny Vance I believe). Sorry I can't link to the airwaves.
Re: GOOD JOB KP Even with HCA I thought we'd lose in six. They got beat by a tougher, better team. I do believe the lack of experience came out a few times, but I think think this series will help the team in the future. I also think this series pointed out some things we are lacking. KP and the big wigs were here all series behind the scenes talking. I'm upset we lost, but I didn't think we'd advance anyway.
Re: GOOD JOB KP Take it up with him. Nate was said to have killed one high profile trade. No personal attacks.
Re: GOOD JOB KP LMFAO!!!!! You're the one using him as proof! That yellow ribbon deserves a better home porkchop.
Re: GOOD JOB KP The only thing that bothers me is that three of our vets, Joel, Outlaw and Blake, were completely exposed as unable to get it done on the playoff level. I really hope that KP takes a sober look at this team soon and makes a big splash on the FA market.
Re: GOOD JOB KP Outlaw yes, Steve was 'average', but Joel had an absolutely monster task in front of him ... Yao has frequently made Dwight look bad head-to-head. Let's keep things in perspective shall we.
Re: GOOD JOB KP It did show how Blake can be inconsistant. But we already knew that. I think Pryz was great. He did what he can do. Bang, foul and battle. Sad to say, that Trav didn't bring it like I thought he would. That might have been his last game in a Zers jersey.
If I were GM, I certainly would be looking at finding the solution at SF and PG for this team. If you're going to play a guy like Joel, you need more than two offensive weapons on the court. The box score tells the story: Roy and Aldridge took 38 of your 71 shots and shot over 50%, while the remaining three starters contributed 2, 3, and 2 points. Outlaw and Blake are capable of big games, but not on a consistent basis. To truly contend, you need at least 3 guys contributing what Roy and Aldridge do, and a fourth who's at the Rondo/Bynum level. You also have to control the pace of the game. Play it at Houston's comfort level and they are tough to beat. Hell of a season, though, and great playoff experience for the young guys.
Spot on. I think we have our core settled with some guys on the fence, but a good amount that we will probably trade/release. But wow, what an amazing season. Anything beyond 50 wins and a playoff spot was gravy for me, but the team got to 54, HCA and took Houston to 6 games. Good job Portland. I look forward to the next decade of Blazer basketball! Scarlet and Black for Life.
It was an excellent season that showed positives and flaws in all our players that will be addressed in the coming months. So pretty much an as planned season with a better than expected record.
Just about any Blazer fan is sad and disappointed today but if we are looking at the season as a whole then there is nothing but pride for me. And that is important that the team has got back to the point that we can feel pride in our players both on and off the court. Great job this season guys. Remember this year and this playoff experience and use it for the motivation you need to get better. Im sure the only reason that the most fans outside of Blazer fans rip on Oden is cuz they KNOW if Oden continues to develop and get to his potential the rest of the league is in trouble. Deep trouble. So I stand and applaud your season Well done PDX, well done.
For the 3rd consecutive year the team improved by at least 10 games. That is amazing. Roy is a bona fide superstar and Aldridge an all star in the making. Rudy is on the all rookie team. KP will continue to do his magic. Anyone ever watch America's Test Kitchen? When they create a recipe they try out variaion after variation until they get it just perfect. My favorite was when they made more than 20 cheesecakes, calculated they included about 250,000 calories. Anyway, we baked the cake. It was good, but needs a few tweaks. Don't redo the recipe, adjust the amount of vanilla and cinnamon (not a reference to anyone's skin color!). Maybe adjust the oven temperature (game speed). Try baking soda instead of baking powder at the point guard position. But the basic recipe is sound. The next version or two will be the perfect one.
