Re: Turkoglu to leave the Magic? Yeah, IMO if we get a PG and a SF one of them needs to be an above average shooter, instead of both of them being below average. Honestly if I had to pick between getting Sessions or Wallace I don't know who I would want.. But probably Sessions because we dont have to trade for him.
Re: Turkoglu to leave the Magic? I would love to get Hedo and I think he is the best option for us. How bad ass would that be?! Tall as heck for a SF\PG - 3 point range, clutch, not a ball hog, veteran, can play 4 if we need, not going to be that expensive, we could get him without giving up anyone (but I think we would need to move Outlaw and Sergio for a backup 4) and boom! We are golden. Blake\Bayless Roy\Rudy Hedo\Batum\Webster LMA\Backup\ Joel\Oden I'm lovin it.
Re: Turkoglu to leave the Magic? He'd be my #1 target. He's a real point forward and would give us a great 3rd wheel in the starting unit. He's 30/31, by the time he slows down Batum will be more than ready. But right now, Hedo would make us a contender. The real question is, why would he leave Orlando?
Re: Turkoglu to leave the Magic? The same reason lots of players don't stay in the same place, Orlando can't afford to keep him. My guess is that he's probably going to command around 10 million/year this off-season and will be something of a hot commodity. Which means the Blazers having a good shot at him hinges on letting a guy like Travis Outlaw walk for nothing in an effort to give yourself enough financial flexibility to make a legitimate push to get him. The other option is to try and work a sign and trade with Orlando, but you have to wonder what they would accept, maybe Outlaw and/or Martell? I wouldn't count on it.
Re: Turkoglu to leave the Magic? I would love to move Outlaw to get Hedo. I wouldn't think the Magic would want Webster, since he didn't play last year and you don't know what your getting with him. Maybe they would want Sergio? Get rid of old fatty Anthony Johnson and replace him with Sergio. Let Outlaw fill PT for Hedo and just let Pietrus play more too. It might work out!!! But I am a dreamer.
Re: Turkoglu to leave the Magic? I've felt the same way for awhile, but when I think about a starting front line that includes Hedo, LMA and Greg complimented by Brandon and Blake, that's a whole lot of firepower surrounding Greg and two legitimate wings who can create off of the pick and roll as quasi-point fowards. Sessions would be great (I think) but in some ways Turkoglu would be a much bigger matchup problem for opposing defenses. I think the only way we could get Hedo would be to work a sign and trade using Travis and/or Martell which the Magic might bite on since both seem to fit into Orlando's three point shooting philosophy. What 10 man rotation looks better? Sessions/Blake Roy/Rudy Batum/Webster LMA/Travis Greg/Przybilla or Blake/Bayless Roy/Rudy Hedo/Batum LMA/<veteran PF> Greg/Pryzbilla I think I lean more towards the latter ... maybe
Re: Turkoglu to leave the Magic? Poor Andrea, Sam Mitchell almost destroyed him, thank god for Jay Triano.
Re: Turkoglu to leave the Magic? I think with the Blazers young assets, they could get both Turkoglu and an upgrade at PG. Don't forget that Steve Blake played his best season by far, but still was in the bottom tier of PG's this season. I am not saying this is the plan I would do, but if the Blazers renounced Frye and Blake they would have around 12 million in cap space. They could sign Hedo for our cap room. I have no idea what he is looking for, but I assume it's not going to be over 12 million in this NBA economy. Then take Outlaw, Sergio and Webster along with out pick and trade them to a team for a player like Hinrich, Nash, or a sign and trade to Dallas for Kidd. Send #32 and 3 million to NO for #21 and select Dejuan Blair Bring over Kponen and Freeland Leaves us a roster of Kidd or whatever/Bayless/Koponen Roy/Fernandez Turkoglu/Batum Aldridge/Blair/Freeland Oden/Przybilla I think that team is a lot better than last years team.
Re: Turkoglu to leave the Magic? I many times disagree with you but this sounds like a good plan. I doubt the Blazers/KP does this but it is a good plan and I agree we would have a better roster then last year.
Re: Turkoglu to leave the Magic? If we get Turk, we don't need a new point guard..we could still sign and trade for one after using cap space on Hedo.
Re: Turkoglu to leave the Magic? There is also a rumor making the rounds that Varejao will opt out of his contract and test the market. That's good, in the sense that the more FAs there are on the market, the lower the price tends to be. In the abstract, I like Varejao...kid plays like he has a chip on his shoulder, and teams need some of that. I don't really see him as a good fit for the Blazers though.
Re: Turkoglu to leave the Magic? Kidd and Turkoglu would make the Blazers into title contenders. Btw, Blair is a lock to go in the lotto, possibly top-10.
Re: Turkoglu to leave the Magic? as a backup PF he would be good.. but Backup PF is less of a worry to me than PG or SF.. but I agree with the earlier statement that HEdo would lessen our need for a PG
Re: Turkoglu to leave the Magic? I disagree about the sign and trade. If Orlando had the money to pay for Travis or Martell, they would use it on Hedo. I like the idea of signing Hedo to free agent money.... and then trade for our starting point guard. If we sign Hedo it would free up any combination of Joel, Travis, Martel, Batum,Rudy, Bayless, Blake or Sergio for trade to acquire a point guard.(Tony Parker) San Antonio is a very old team that needs an influx of young talent. We can rebuild their team if they trade us Tony Parker. Your thoughts?
Re: Turkoglu to leave the Magic? With their other two great players quickly declining, I can't imagine the Spurs would trade Tony Parker. Especially not for any combination of the players on that list.
Re: Turkoglu to leave the Magic? Though others may disagree, I am of the opinion that there is zero chance KP lets Outlaw or Blake walk. Even if Portland does, the probably don't have enough money available to bring Hedo here. Not after he was a major factor in a team making the Finals.
Re: Turkoglu to leave the Magic? I love the idea, but I agree with Alex. San Antonio wouldn't trade Parker for any combo of the above listed.
