Re: Turkoglu to leave the Magic? That's a great point about the more FA's the cheaper you might get one.
Re: Turkoglu to leave the Magic? Actually, if they cut Outlaw and Blake they'll not only have enough to sign Hedo, but also another nice FA. They'd have around 17-18 mil.
Re: Turkoglu to leave the Magic? On the radio, KP mentioned they are going to have around 6.5 million under the cap. Do Blake and Outlaw make 11 to 12 million combined? To be honest, I have no idea. I thought they were both pretty cheap, though.
Re: Turkoglu to leave the Magic? About 4 million each (if not exact) so 8 million together. That'd be 14.5 overall. I think Hedo can probably expect to get in the 10 million range given his age, so that leaves us with something a bit shy of the MLE. Unfortunately we won't be able to use that to sign Sessions. Even though he can't be paid more than the MLE, his cap hold will more than we could afford in that situation. And this is assuming that we no longer have Outlaw and Blake.
Re: Turkoglu to leave the Magic? According to Storyteller's site, they will make a combined $7.6 million next season.
Re: Turkoglu to leave the Magic? I think if they renounce Blake, Outlaw and Frye they would have just about 15 million assuming the cap stays where it is.
Re: Turkoglu to leave the Magic? Hedo is going to look to get paid as much as he can. Especially if he wins a ring. 10 million may or may not get it done. I wouldn't even try to guess what Hedo believes he is worth in today's NBA, though he may be looking across the locker room at Lewis for a ballpark figure. I am willing to bet 10 million is WAY on the low side of what he is looking for. After all, he was the primary ball handler/finisher for a team that made the finals. Why should he settle for less then the maximum possible if he can get it? Should Portland use all of their cap space to get him? He is going to be looking for both huge money and a long term deal.
Re: Turkoglu to leave the Magic? I don't know if a 30 year old wing player is often worth getting a max deal (15 million). I agree that 10 million is quite likely on the low side, and Hedo will want money since he's been underpaid on his last contract. That being said, 10 million is still Kevin Martin/Al Jefferson/Monta Ellis type of money for up and coming players. Hedo hasn't ever been to an all-star game (not that he hasn't deserved it). I could easily see someone throwing down 12 million to get him though. It should be a buyer's market though, so we'll just have to see!
Re: Turkoglu to leave the Magic? So he can fill in for PG and guard Kobe, I think his price is going up during these finals.
Re: Turkoglu to leave the Magic? Agreed... what teams even HAVE max money to offer? The Magic could do a sign-and-trade with a willing team, but they'd have to take on significant salary to get a deal to work with most teams. I like Hedo, but I'm not sure he's going to get Rashard Lewis-type money both because of market conditions and his age (Rashard just turned 28 in the summer he signed with Orlando; Hedo's turned 30 already). Those are two years of prime production that can't be captured in the next contract. $10m first year seems about what I'd expect him to get. Ed O.
Re: Turkoglu to leave the Magic? I think point guard is a bigger need at this point. I'd rather get Andre Miller or Sessions at this point. Hedo would be great, but watching our offense stagnate last season was a huge disappointment for me. I think a great point guard would get this team into gear.
Re: Turkoglu to leave the Magic? I agree with that.. but thats not just for this team.. thats for most teams.. thats why its so much harder to get that great PG.. and when they are there.. most of the time they arent available.
Re: Turkoglu to leave the Magic? Which is all the more reason to bring in an Andre Miller or Jason Kidd.
Re: Turkoglu to leave the Magic? Kidd I am down with.. Miller I like I just know he will want more years.. Kidd has about 2 years left and by that time Bayless will be ready to take over.
Re: Turkoglu to leave the Magic? Sure he'll want more years, but then he slides into the backup spot after Bayless is ready.
Re: If we get Hedo next season, we'll win it all. Your thought process baffles me....and no 'ship is easy
Re: If we get Hedo next season, we'll win it all. Rizzle there isn't going to be a game six. Maybe the parade will be on your birthday.
