If we land PG, I want to try to sign Chris Bosh if he passes a physical and is cleared to play.

Why? Vonleh is perfect in that lineup. Just rebound and play defense. Bosh would cost more than the MLE anyway. George also plays very well as a small ball four. I'd be looking to sign a shooter, maybe a veteran from Europe. We will have to get creative.

I was wondering what the price of an allstar is who has just one year left on his contract. I think at the time Deron Williams was traded he was considered a very high level player, maybe up there with George? He had a year plus a couple months left on his contract when traded. Jazz got Derrick Favors, Devin Harris and two first round picks, one turned out to be #3 the same year and the other #21 two years later.
Were there others traded with about the same time left on their contracts?

I think Carmelo Anthony had over two years left on his contract when traded to the Knicks. "The Nuggets traded Melo to the New York Knicks tonight, a league source said. Denver gets Wilson Chandler, Raymond Felton, Danilo Gallinari, Timofey Mozgov, the Knicks 2014 first-round draft pick, the Warriors’ 2012 second-round pick, the Warriors’ 2013 second-round pick and $3 million in cash."

Carmelo had 1 year and change left and got probably the best haul ever for a star that was going to leave. Kosta Koufos Wilson Chandler, Danilo Galinari, Timofey Mozgov, 2012/14/16 1sts

Are you sure about the length of his contract? I show him being traded February 2011, and then later signing a contract with NY starting in the 2014-15 year. And it looks as if only one of the picks was first round.

    Signed a 5 year deal (with opt out) in 2006 - http://www.espn.com/nba/news/story?id=2517602

He declined an extension in 2010

I don't understand what happened to his `12-13 year? Did he sign a one year contract with New York?

Trade Aminu and/or Davis for second round picks and draft Semi Ojeleye or Jonah Bolden to play stretch 4.

I know people mentioned Crabbe but I think a better prospect for Indiana would be Harkless + another player. You get a good, all-rounded player who is just 24 and could still improve, on 3 more years of a good contract. That plus three picks is the best offer they are going to get, Boston are the only remaining probable destination and their picks are too high for them to offer them (both 2017 and 2018 Brooklyn) and their players do not have that much of an upside to compensate. Maybe a package of Crowder, Smart and Jaylen Brown but they won't even offer that. I'm pretty convinced Ainge won't even enter the conversation before draft because he will be hoping for Hayward.

I reckon they might actually prefer us to include 2018 or 2019 pick instead of #26 this year. They already have 1 pick in late top 20 this year, they don't need all 4. But on the other hand they could probably flip Cleveland pick plus their pick for something around 11-12. They'd be drafting at #12, #15 and #20. Imagine if they manage to get Zach Collins, Justin Jackson/OG Anonuby and another player like Terrance Ferguson with that. It's completely realistic and if you added that to Myles Turner, it's an exciting young core.

    Dear Aaron Mintz, NBA Agent,
We fans of the Blazers have a proposition for you. We truly feel it would be a win-win-win-win-win for all parties. First, a little history:

We agreed to give $$$$$ to your Crabbe and Leonard (clients) last offseason. A majority of us believe that hasn't worked out for the team and especially the fans. It's true, we've lost confidence in Meyers and AC. We also believe that sometimes a change of environment can spur a player's development in a positive way. We want to give them that opportunity. We don't dislike them as people and we will root for their continued success. Now, with regard to the proposition:

If you can convince the Pacers to take your clients, the valued Mo Harkless, our 2 highest draft picks this
year, in addition to our 2019 1st rounder for Paul George (we will also agree to take your rookie client Jordan Bell in the first round giving him a guaranteed contract) a few things happen: Your clients get a chance to play extended minutes. Jordan Bell gets a guaranteed contract. Paul George gets a chance to make us a contender.

Again, we feel this is a win-win-win-win-win for all of your clients, you, The Pacers and The Blazers and we fans!

    Sincerely,
    The Blazers Fans of S2.

Here's a Pistons fan who thinks Portland is the most likely destination for Paul George. He's a good YouTuber.

Would rather have someone who's better to more competitive right away. Amir Johnson or Kyle O'Quinn would be perfect. I disagree about Bosh, he's been out so long that I think he won't make more than the MLE. Bosh would be the perfect stretch 4 to have, would provide veteran leadership and championship experience.

If we still had Vonleh, then Bosh would be a perfect offensive big man option off the bench.

If we land PG, I honestly think that we'll trade:
Harkless, Vonleh, Leonard, Ezeli ($28M outgoing) and 15, 20, and 26
for Paul George and Thad Young ($32M incoming)
--I think that they'll really value Vonleh. He played college ball in Indiana and would be a good fit next to Turner. I think they'd value Moe more than Crabbe at this point.
We'd shed Leonards bad contract, which would be a good thing.

Our payroll for next year would be projected at $145M. (Yikes).
-I think we'd try to trade Crabbe and a future 2nd to NYK, getting back Kyle O'Quinn and Lance Thomas. That would bring our payroll down to $136M.
-We'd need a backup replacement for Crabbe, who could be someone like Sefelosha. We'd have 3 PFs in Aminu, Davis, and Young, and we could trade Davis or Aminu for a 2nd round pick or a backup SF, bringing our payroll down to $130M.
One option could be Aminu/Lottery Protected Future 1st to ORL for Portland native Terrence Ross.

A better option would be to flip Thad Young (and maybe a future 1st) to Boston for Jae Crowder after they sign Hayward.

They'd have Jaylen Brown as their backup SF, with Hayward starting. They'd need a PF to fill out their lineup, and Young would be a great option. It would also lower our payroll to $128M. Our bench would be strong and great defensively with Turner, Crowder, Aminu/Davis, and O'Quinn.

What's the chances of us getting PG? I peg them at 33% (1 in 3). I like those chances!

    Because:
1.) If we land him we'll be able to contend and likely keep him.
2.) We have three 1st round picks in a deep draft.
3.) Our 15th pick is the highest they could fetch because all teams above us in the draft aren't good enough to contend if they land him, and therefore won't be able to keep him. (Except for BOS, but...)
4.) BOS won't offer a BKN pick or #1 for him.
5.) LAL will hold off and hope to land him in free agency.
6.) Pritchard trades him thinking he goes to LAL in free agency, would love to see us lose him while taking our assets.
7.) Vonleh is a good fit next to Turner and IND will value him. (Vonleh went to college there).
8.) Pritchard loves the draft and is now President of Basketball Operations.
