I think the one thing that would keep us from taking a shot at PG is if Neil doesn't think we can clear the books enough to offer a competitive contract in the following years free agency while also keeping Nurk. You have to be able to resign Nurkić to convince PG we would be real contenders and if Nurk plays like he did for the last 20 games all next year he is going to command near max money as well.

GSW roster required the perfect storm to be able to sign their 4 guys and we don't have the luxury of having our best player signed to a ridiculously cheap contract.

We can go over the cap to re-sign Nurkic. Are you worried about luxury tax? Don't. Allen will have no problem paying it if the team is an actual contender. And we'd have to match salaries for George anyway.

That's what I figured. I know the luxury tax is estimated to go up to 124 million by 2018 so that gives us some breathing room. If we moved Leonard and Turner we should be able to offer him a max still. Small contracts like Aminu and Davis also come off the books to give us some room. Hopefully we could send Crabbe in the Indy deal as well and kill two birds with one stone in terms of making room to resign PG while keeping Nurk.

Instead ood 3 picks this great, keep 26, give them our next year's pick, unprotected. Leonard, harkless, Napier or connaughton, 15, 20, 2018 unprotected.

I'm sure someone "could" beat that. It's just whether they're willing to risk George leaving.

Interesting outside perspective. I don't think it'd take all three picks either, but I'd totally offer it if need be.

Man if I'm Pritchard I'd be intrigued with the possibility of having three picks in the top 20 in this years class (15,18,20.) Three or four picks this year puts you in a good position to quickly rebuild your team. That's way more intriguing to me than a future pick that has way too many variables.

Then you add a young shooter with an upside like Crabbe, which aren't easy to find either. That's something you can sell to your fanbase.

You can agree to trade before hand. Have seen it before.

You can trade the draft pick even after you have drafted them if you havent signed them yet. Thats what happened with wiggins.

    False.

We can't trade Crabbe to BKN until a year after the offer sheet was matched.

We can trade him anywhere else whenever, and could have done so on January 15th.

Uh...obviously. I was listing guys they might conceivably trade, not guys that would unquestionably remain part of the squad after a PG deal.

With a 15% trade kicker and a likely opportunity to start, I'm sure he'd approve.

Still, why would Mudiay have any positive trade value? They handed him the starting PG role and desperately wanted him to be their PGOTF. Then he lost his starting job to the much older, much slower, much shorter Jameer Nelson. Seriously if you're an NBA player and you lose your job to a 35-year old 5'10" fatty, you have pretty much zero trade value.

Probably but without that conversation already having happened (if it indeed hasn't) then I don't think it is fair to assume one way or another.
