With Nurk, CJ is already going to be a 3rd banana

Sure, but Nurk isn't going to dominate the ball like Paul George would. Right now, Dame and CJ are the primary ball handlers. If you add George, he's a wing player and he's going to need the ball in his hands.

Nurk could very well become a star, but he's a guy that will work in the flow of the offense.

I think CJ would be more willing to accept that role than George or Butler. Of course nobody wants to be demoted, but in a team game being willing to accept a reduced role for the good of the team is absolutely necessary for success. We saw Klay take a major demotion and it paid off with a championship.

CJ is pretty ball dominate right now....not huge assist numbers...Paul George would just be that with defense

Klay can be a spot up guy though. He can spot up on the three point line and be wide open all day. Can CJ be that guy?

But that's my concern. CJ is a total ball hog. I don't have concerns about Dame getting along with PG. Dame can adapt his game to anyone. He immediately gelled with Nurk. I'm just worried about CJ.

I would hope both Dame and CJ would be willing to take a step back for a better team. With the two of them both being ball-dominant before Nurkic, we saw how that worked out.

I have the unpopular opinion that CJ is best suited as a 6 man....sparkplug off the bench...I'd like more length at the 2 guard with the starting unit....I'd swap CJ for Klay Thompson in a heartbeat but around here, he's considered untouchable

Klay led the Warriors in FGA per game this regular season (18) and still shot 14 times per game this postseason. When you move the ball the way GSW do no one really ends up sacrificing in the end.

I agree with you. I have never been a fan of the Dame/CJ starting backcourt. I would trade CJ for Klay, but CJ is locked in for four (or is it five?) more years starting next season. Klay will be a free agent. It would be a hard pill to swallow if we traded CJ for Klay and then Klay left.

Neil needs to do what ever it takes to make this happen

Even if PG gets here and then leaves, its still a win for Portland. $19 million off the books

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Thompson is signed for two more years--he'll be a free agent in 2019. Regardless, the Warriors wouldn't do that trade. Thompson is a perfect fit on offense and a much greater defensive asset than McCollum. I think the Warriors will eventually deal Thompson, to avoid $300M yearly costs, but they'd deal him for young prospects/picks. Not for another expensive star.

Definitely not saying they would do it. Just saying that it would be a pretty big gamble from Portland.

Sure, but this is contingent on:

    Rule 1. Be attractive.

    Rule 2. Don't be unattractive.

I was just noting that Clippers interested in George, not suggesting they trade Griffin for him.
