Well, its more legit than a deal I saw in the other thread where it was Raef, Sergio, Travis to PHX. But it's still awful.

If we are a team involved in the Amare sweepstakes we won't be taking him; rather, we will be facilitating Phoenix's cap-relief needs and/or young player contracts in a 3 team deal for a player we actually want and need.

Chicago, Washington, New York, Toronto, and Miami seem to be the teams in the east that have interest in dealing stars that we may actually want. Not so much Miami, but Marion would provide more than Raef, at least for half a season.

Amare hasn't been happy since the Suns went away from run and gun. Why do any of you think he would be happier here?

Our team has shown an inability to get to the ball to Oden in the post, what makes anyone think they would be better at getting it to Amare? The reason why Aldridge works so well in this offense is because he plays on the perimeter (like the guards). If Oden played on the perimeter, he would probably average as many shots as Aldridge, but he doesn't. He gets down low, in the paint, where he belongs. Unfortunately our guards never look for him, or work to get him the ball. I'm not convinced things would be much different with Stoudemire in the paint.

It'd only work if we brought in Nash with him and found a new coach. I find these two things unlikely - alas.

meh, over the years Stein has been consistent with his Blazer trade rumors... he always has Portland getting swindled. At least in this article he admitted that he was just pulling the trade scenario out of his butt as an example of what Phoenix would like to have happen.

It's some gossipy drivel for sure as I can't see how an argument could be made that Portland would benefit moving Bayless Outlaw and RLEC for Travis Thomas Noah and Drew Gooden... Stein doesn't even attempt to justify it from Portland's end.

Marc Stein was suggesting the Blazers trade Bayless, Outlaw and RLEC for Stoudemire. From a talent perspective, I'd say that's a swindle of Phoenix. Of course, the main problem would be, how on Earth does Portland manage to use Oden, Aldridge AND Stoudemire? I don't think the three players would be happy having to rotate between the C/PF positions rather than having locked-in starter roles. Which would increase the chances of Stoudemire or Aldridge bolting in free agency.

The Thomas, Noah, Gooden thing was a separate, alternate possibility for Phoenix. And an even worse deal for Phoenix.

I'd do that Amare trade (Travis, Bayless, Raef for him) and then trade Amare for Devin Harris! NICEEEEE!

Aldridge could be a McHale-like presence off the bench. It would allow us to move Joel more easily in the next couple of years, as Aldridge is capable of playing either the 4 or the 5.

Or we bring LA off the bench and swing Amare for more value than Outlaw/Bayless/Raef in a year or two.

I love Bayless, but getting Amare for him would probably be too good to pass up.

Do you think Aldridge would be satisfied as a bench player? I think he'd leave in free agency if he were relegated to the bench. If players (rightly) looking out for their own interests weren't an issue, I'd love a front court rotation of Oden/Stoudemire/Aldridge...each player getting 30-35 minutes per game, rotating between PF and C. But I don't think they'd accept that.

If Stoudemire could be flipped for more value (like, say, Devin Harris!) then great.

While Aldridge seems like a GREAT guy to me... I am not foolish enough to think that he doesn't want to maximize his potential. While winning a component in feeling fulfilled, the ability to produce, get accolades and make money are all huge, I would imagine.

The Blazers could pay him like a starter, so I don't think that the money should be an issue. He could be (as Manu has been the last few years, and players like McHale were in the distant past) considered THE best bench player in the NBA, with near-constant "leader for 6th man of the year" status... would that be enough accolades? I dunno.

His production might take a hit if he's limited to 30ish minutes a game (rather than the 35 he got last year and the 36 he's getting this year), but if the team really leaps into title contention, wouldn't it be enough to keep him happy? At least for a little while?

Presumably we'd have less incentive to HAVE to move Amare than Phoenix does (if they were to do a deal w/Portland not including a member of the big three) and we'd be able to pick and choose our deal.

As long as the thing didn't immediately blow up in the Blazers' faces, I think that the value in the deal is just so clearly on Portland's side that we'd come out ahead in the long run in spite of Bayless's enormous potential.

The talent side is definitely way in Portland's favour. My only concern is the relatively short time Stoudemire is under contract. Usually, that's not a problem in the NBA...elite players generally just sign max deals with their current teams. However, 2010 is being so hyped as a walk year, it feels like the top players are more willing to move around. The (perhaps small) chance that if a deal isn't found by the end of 2010 Amare would leave for nothing is a worry. But maybe I'm worrying too much about that. A sign-and-trade can even be worked out in the summer of 2010 if that happens.

KP has built this team around players who care about one thing and thats winning. Bringing in a player who is known to be selfish would destroy everything he's built. This is to big a risk to take especially when we don't need to take a risk.

Now if Bosh was truly available I could possibly see us trading LMA for him.

No it's a legit worry. Amare may be more concerned with being in a premier city as well. You just don't know.

I would pee my pants if we swung a 3 team deal involving PHX and NJ where we somehow recieved Harris and a SF like Barnes or Carter.

    EDIT:

Go BIG or go HOME baby....lol

    1) KP isn't trading for Amare.

    2) We're only trading if it brings in a PG, SF, or both.

    3) I'd rather have Aldridge than Amare anyways.

But thank you all for the laugh, as usual.

Laughable. PHX and NJ would juts cut Portland out of the deal and do the deal themselves.

God, I'm still laughing at how homerish those trades are.

I'm not really into thinking about trade proposals, but here it goes.

According to Marc Stein the Suns want back cap space and younger players(which is something we have)

Also according to Marc Stein the Wizards aren't really looking to trade Caron but would if they got something BIG in return

So here is my trade idea

    http://games.espn.go.com/nba/featur...1705~808&teams=27~21~21~21~21~22~22&te=&cash=

P.S. I would never trade LMA for Amare.
