Happy with this - wanted to keep him, and did so without overpaying.

 hmm....wonder what his original offer was. I want to like Meyers, and had hope for him after the Memphis series. He's got a skillset but he's like a timid player, afraid to take a shot unless his wide open, afraid of the paint. I just hope we can keep Harkless too.

10 mil is still substantial for a backup, even when the cap goes up next year. But hey, I think he's a lot better than Vonleh.

Good! This guy might be a hell of a player when he is 28 30 years old.

It's also a pretty awesome trade chip at his price.

    Good deal, welcome back!

He missed out on 19 million dollars though by not signing the extension in October

I love when people post breaking news.... 5 minutes after someone else has started a thread breaking said news.

There were two rumors. One was 4 years 40 million and the other was 4 years 60 million. Who really knows what went on.

I really like the idea of playing Meyers at the stretch 4 with Festus at the 5. Crazy length and floor spacing.

If/since they're smart, they hopefully frontloaded the contract.

They can increase (or decrease) the salary by 7.5% every year using the Bird Exception. So instead of a contract that goes up over the next few years, his 4/41M could look like this:

    2016-17: $11,286,517
    2017-2018: $10,595,506
    2018-2019: $9,904,494
    2019-2020: $9,213,483

It actually hurts us a bit by adding 600k to next year's run to a lux tax hit, but if you think that we're already going to top that anyway for CJ and our RFAs this year, then it saves 600k 600k in 2018-19 and 2M in 2019-2020 (when we'd be looking at the 3-in-4-years SuperTax).

I just hope Meyers guards the center, he is actually competent at that defensively, oddly enough.

Hopefully this shoulder injury is a blessing in disguise. I'm sure it forced Meyers to work on his leg strength while rehabbing his shoulder.

He gets dudes legitimately mad at him. He doesn't back down. For all the jokes about his Beiber hair, he's easily one of the toughest dudes on the roster.

He's our enforcer, I'm not even joking... Remember the Jimmer incident at the Garden? Dude doesn't put up with bullshit. I'm also sure Marc Gasol legitimately hates him.

Depends on if anyone wants him. We don't know what other teams were offereing, he didn't sign another teams offer sheet.
