I wish we would've picked John Henson (skinnier than Nerlens Noel)/Tyler Zeller (DRtg 110, almost exact Rebounding %'s)/Fab Melo/Festus Ezeli instead as our "tough, shotblocking and rebounding defensive stud Center" with the #11 pick....then we wouldn't have to have this conversation.
Can we drop Drummond and all the other straw men? The question should be "who was BPA at #11". Before (and after) the 2012 draft the argument was made that Henson was a "bad fit" for the Blazers. Why? Because Lynyrd was a true center and Henson was not. Now even Lynyrd's defenders are begining to talk about his future in terms of being a stretch 4. To put it another way, Lynyrd looks more like a center, and that trumped the fact Henson was the better player. Call me a "whiner" all you like - that was a highly questionable decision.
Trolls are like Sarah Palin. They only have power if you respond to them. Back to Meyers and why he is pretty good on offense, and can be a non-liability in the coming years.
I still like him as a center, and 7'1" players aren't "stretch 4s", anyhow. Claver and Babbit are "stretch 4s", in that you sacrifice size for some outside offense.
Milwaulkie loves Henson at center so much they just signed zaza for 3 years, guess he's what 4th string now?
Who knows maybe they just signed zaza to back up Henson, who is backing up udoh, who is backing up sanders
Well, there is no 3rd string C in PDX so they must have some confidence in Meyers to handle that. Henson, you are correct, he might be 3rd string. Either way, Meyers is going to be relied on a shit-ton more by the Blazers than the Bucks will on Henson. Unless of course the Bucks are relying on him to lose games for them on their attempt to snag wiggins
Meyers Leonard was relied on last year to be the only real center and that didn't work out too well. A lot of games he didn't see many minutes. If he's still atrocious on defense I see Stotts playing a lot of small ball and gunning 3's when Lopez comes out. Stotts will obviously go with what works best.
