Not even close greatest achievement is getting a 40m dollar contract from NO/PA when no one else was offering...

Has any other player gotten paid that much and given such little output. Evan Turner of course.

Several. Meyer's didn't even make this list of the 10 worst contracts of 2016:

    https://uproxx.com/dimemag/worst-nb...rankings-joakim-noah-luol-deng-dwight-howard/

Obviously, some guys on that list have contributed more than Meyers, but everyone on that list makes more. In some cases 2 - 3x more than Meyers. Surprisingly, some on that list that make considerably more and have actually contributed less than Meyers. All of Loul Deng (4 years/$72 million, 427 points), Joakim Noah (4 years/$72 million, 244 points) and Chandler Parsons (4 years/$94 million, 494 points) have scored fewer points than Meyers (4 years/$41 million, 513 points) since signing their much larger contracts.

Of course, you could blame age and/or injuries for their lack of production (but, that does nothing to change the fact that those contracts are hideous, those GMs should have known better than to throw such huge contracts at older guys with significant injury histories). But even if you compare Meyers to other big men signed that summer (Miles Plumlee, 4 years, 52 million; Timofey Mozgov, 4 years, $64 million; Ian Mahinmi), he's still a "bargain" (relatively speaking).

Of course, all of these guys, including Meyers, are only half way through the contracts they signed back in 2016. So, things could change, but in terms of win shares relative to their contracts, here's how things currently shake out:

    Meyers Leonard: 2.5 WS/$41 million = 0.061 WS/$million
    Ian Mahinmi: 3.6 WS/$64 million = = 0.056 WS/$million
    Joakim Noah: 2.3 WS/$72 million = 0.032 WS/$million
    Miles Plumlee: 1.4 WS/$52 million = 0.027 WS/$million
    Timofey Mozgov: 1.5 WS/$64 million = 0.023 WS/$million
    Chandler Parsons: 1.3 WS/$94 million = 0.14 WS/$million
    Luol Deng: 0.9 WS/$72 million= 0.013 WS/$million

Based on relative production, here's how much Meyers contract would need to be to match the hideousness of the others:
    Luol Deng: $200 million
    Chandler Parsons: $181 million
    Timofey Mozgov: $107 million
    Miles Plumlee: $93 million
    Joakim Noah: $76 million
    Ian Mahinmi: $44 million

So, Meyer's contract isn't close to being Luol Deng or Chandler Parsons bad, or even Timofey Mozgov, Miles Plumlee or Joakim Noah bad. In terms of relative badness, Meyers's contract is almost, but not quite as bad as Ian Mahinmi's.

And, that's just a comparison to five of the worst contracts of 2016. That summer set the bar for handing out terrible contracts, but there have been other isolated cases of really bad contracts over the years.

So, the next time you think Meyers is overpaid (he is), just remember, it could be worse, a LOT worse.

That’s all true, it could also be much better though. When we combine that 2016 contract with ET’s, AC’s and to a much lesser extent Harkless’ well that was an epic summer...

While I agree he's not the worst contract of 2016... At least some of those others had a track record of being decent before.

I find the win share statistic to be useful intra-team, but not inter-team. Same for stats per minute. Don't reject those stats, just know their place. Leonard played in 60% of the games on a winning team.

Several of the worst (Deng, Noah and Parsons) also had track records of significant injuries.

Of course, it's just one stat, but isn't the point that Meyers is making contributions to a winning team, while Deng, Noah, Parsons, etc, are not (while getting paid significantly more).

But fine, pick your favorite stat and crunch the numbers. It can be minutes played, points scored, PER, whatever. I doubt if you will find a single metric that shows Meyers' contract is the worst in the league. I'm not saying his contract is good. It is what it is, but my post was a response to the question: Has any other player gotten paid that much and given such little output?

Perhaps, I should have stuck to the simple answer and just said, "yes".

Luol Deng and Mozgov were solid to good starters in their career. Noah was the defensive player of the year. Parsons was very efficient in Texas, then offered a max contract by our GM too. Yes ultimately they were all bad deals.

The problem is Meyers wasnt as productive as Kelvin Cato, with major physical limitations. He never had the potential of Andre Bargnani. His deal is far worse than the other ones knowing what we knew at the time.

I've been far more productive with no Achilles.
