That's a normal time for a labrum tear.

Anyone know the nature of his surgery?

It's not just a simple dislocation; he has a torn labrum that needs to be repaired.

Meyers only agreed to the surgery to prevent the Blazers from being able to trade him! :MARIS61:

Is the recovery time for Meyers a minimum of 6-8 month seem pretty quick. I've known athletes in other sports who have similar surgeries and 6-8 seems pretty fast.

Depends on how deep the tear was...surface tears heal quicker

Either way its enough to have a significant impact on his next season. It's not as if he's an experienced proven vet who is fully developed. We saw with the Blazers how beneficial it was having all the guys working out and playing together over the summer. Meyers needs to make improvements with his game and he won't get any of that for at least half a year.

Yeah. It's a significant injury. I've known baseball players who get torn pectorals and are never the same players.

Only problem with him signing the one year qualifying offer; he would get a no trade clause. If we trade him his new team wouldn't get his bird rights, so thats why he gets the clause. Its effectively makes players un-tradeable; as players always want bird rights even if they are going to leave. Bird rights help players negotiate better contracts with an old team or as leverage for a new team.

Is it a lock that the QO is offered?

Dude should get a brain transplant and a new pair of testicles while he's in there. Check and see if B. Laimbeer's brain is available. That fool could throw 3s and shiver wings driving to the hole. . .

No clue. Is the it predetermined % against the cap or how is that number decided upon?

Smooth, healthy recovery for ya Meyers!

QO is already determined based on draft year and position. It is 4,210,880. But offering it results in a cap hold of 7,689,700 until he accepts the QO (or another offer) or it is rescinded.

I think so; because its only $4.2 million. If we need the space we can rescind it.

The interesting scenario will be if we are able to sign a free agent and need to clear a bit of cap room; do we renounce Meyers, Hendo or Harkless? Do we trade one of Davis, Aminu, Plumlee or Vonleh?

Wish nothing but the best for him personally. Truth is he'll have a great life no matter what happens. I'd rather he play for a different team though; just not a fan of him on the court.
