penance.....he did a tour of Rabbi's and jewish centers since his incident trying to learn and atone...what better way to show he means it than to play in Israel for free....

Why? Former Duck Luke Jackson played there...now coaches NW Christian college hoops in Eugene... to me Meyers is not coming back to the NBA but he could play in Europe or China no problem...not saying Israel would want him

    He said something stupid.

    He's apologized.

He's learned why it was stupid.

You were a teacher, right? If you said something stupid would you teach for free for a year?

If I had 60 million in the bank, sure. (and my post was meant to get a chuckle at best) My neighbors in their mid 60s are in Serbia on mission right now for the next year and a half...it's not always about the money.

I’ve heard that Neil loves when former players beg for jobs.

Sorry I meant the last 2 or 3 players on this roster not 2/3rds.

I think you only say that because he is a former Blazer and you feel some attachment to him. There are many better players that are currently free agents like Chriss for example whom we cut already.

I know of no other player in NBA history who scored more than 80% of his swish2s in 2 playoff series and who sets better screens for Dame, CJ, and others than Meyers. I would be enthusiastic to have him return to the Blazers to be coached by Chauncey , Scott, Roy, and Steve.

Yes spot minutes is good enough being at the bottom of the barrel.

It shows that he was being used in Stotts's offense. Look at defense and see if he fits in Billups's defense?

Then, yes, I would say he's better.

Doesn't sound like he had much interest in coming back to Portland, but maybe that was a Stotts/Olshey thing. Not that he can be picky anymore

I'm jewish and I forgive him, don't even know exactly what he said but I never thought too highly of his intelligence to begin with.
I do however have issues with his defensive iq, granted playing for Stotts no one seemed to have a clue but Leonard might be to the point that even Billups can't fix.
Offensively, he is a very good player.

He used a very bad racial slur for Jewish people.

Meyers is a massive defensive liability. This team needs bigs who can defend, not shoot 3s

The team is on the border of getting out of the luxury tax, they might be able to make a move by the trade deadline to get under it. Cutting a player and signing Meyers would reduce the chance the team can get under the luxury tax.

After the trade deadline or if the above issue is resolved prior I'd be fine with cutting one of McLemore, Elleby, or Brown and signing Meyers for an end of the bench spot. Although I'm fine if the team doesn't as well. Meyers doesn't have value above an end of the bench emergency minute player. Those guys have the advantage of being up to speed on the teams plays/schemes.

I wouldn't cut anyone to give that slow as molasses bum a spot on the roster.
