To bad we don't have 4 years 78 million to give him. I bet Neil would love to give Beasley that kind of a contract.
Better mid range shooter. Better 3 point shooter. Better ballhandler. Better post game. Better BBIQ. Aminu is a better defender and rebounder.
I guess the frontcourt would be Nurkic/Aminu/Collins/Beasley. Nurk and Aminu starting and Zach backing up Nurkic and beasley backing up Aminu. Neil said he want's Zach closer to the Basket
Are you guys just being sarcastic? Beasley is the exact guy that Olshey has avoided bringing in to the culture. In what world is a character type of a guy like Beasley someone Olshey would go after?
Beasley can score the ball. I will give him that. He did seem to turn his career around the past couple of seasons. He could be a good gunner off of the bench. Think of how D'Antoni would use him. He's like the 3/4 version of Gerald Green really.
It does in the nba though. So I could see it as a possible issue for him. It stays in the system too long and he will fail tests.
He misses most games each year, but last year he beat the jinx. As I've said for years, the exchange rate between Knicks stats and Blazer stats is like pesos to dollars. His stats won't translate. But if he's super-cheap, give him a try to see whether he can replace Layman. Take a chance.
I haven’t followed Beasley’s career at all, but it seems like he’s never stuck around I think he even played overseas for a while(?). I’m Leary of guys who just can’t seem to stick, but his stats are ok, and I know he can score.
I do wonder what the plan would be if this link is real. Would he replace Davis? Would they move Aminu back to SF? Can Beasley play SF?
He's been great on the Knicks. I went to 4 Knicks games last year and he was pretty great. Back then, I was saying he'd be great on the Blazers. We need a third guy who can go off for 30 points some nights. Beasley can do that. He can go off. He's bipolar and has turned his life around while continuing to be a professional basketball player so I have mad props for that. That's not a weakness. That's a strength.
He might be one dimensional but it’s a dimension our bench severely lacked last season. We relied so much on CJ to do all the scoring with the second unit. That’s where most our games were lost. We just couldn’t hold leads after the starters went out. Beasley would be nice.
Ed Davis needs to stay, he was the heart and soul of the team. To replace that with someone like Beasley is a very bad idea.
I agree. I just looked up his stats from last season to confirm my memory. All his 30+ point games were very efficient. He's a good player and if he doesn't mind doing his thing for $3 million, I'm in. That is exactly the kind of guy Neil needs to find. Our best season in the last ten years, for my money, including playoffs, was the year we had Mo Williams. He was a reliable scorer off the bench and it made a big difference. Outlaw was good off bench but a complete dud in playoffs. Mo Williams won Game 4 for us vs Rockets.
