Hey, the Spurs are Defense oriented, I don't think Van Exel will go to good with them, nor Finley. Both are older and aren't as fast on D leaving the 2nd string more of a scoring team. BTW--Devin Brown is most likely gone now, Utah might get someone!!!
What is the line-up going to look like now for the Spurs? Nazr Mohammad/Duncan/Finley/Ginnoboli/Parker Bench: Barry..Van Exel..Horry
I think that we might see Ginobili off of the bench. Don't forget about Bruce Bowen still being in the picture.
Looks like Big Shoot Bob will get his 7th ring... Than again imagine Shaq, Kobe, Mallone and Payton in one team... That can't go wrong...
And I thought the heat were stacked. Give the SPURS another ring. I predict a back to back as long as they stay healthy.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting shapecity:</div><div class="quote_post">I remember reading the Spurs were shopping Brent Barry. Any more truth to this Allnet? I'm not sure what the Spurs can get for him, but they always seem to pull something off. I never thought they would be able to trade Malik Rose. I wouldn't be surprised to see him traded, along with a 2nd round pick, to the Hawks for Al Harrington.</div> Yes It is true. Barry has been on the trading block basically all summer. It's just tough for the Spurs to get what they want back. Seems the teams that are interested don't want to give much up for him. For a couple of reasons. A-He had a poor season last year and struggled doing what he has done well his whole career, which is shoot the ball B-Not many teams want to make the Spurs even better by giving up another good talent for him. If the Spurs manage to get Al Harrington for him that would be a steal.
Finley fits into this team great, this was a phenomenal decision on his part. The Spurs needed that scoring punch, and I always thought he was an underrated defender who only seemed to be brought down on that end because people said the whole Mav team couldn't play D. He is a scorer but not dominant with the ball, and can give you consistent points at any time. With the addition of Finley and Van Exel the Spurs just got the scoring, and most of all the clutch players they desparately needed. Although I hate to jump on the bandwagon and pitch what everyone else is saying, unless Duncan gets severely injured I can't see the Spurs winning anything short of a ring this season. WOW.
Spurs are looking real good right now with he additions of Michael Finley and Nick Van Exel. A big kudos goes to the Spurs organization for landing them both
im really curious how the rotation is going to work out. if they trade brent barry and let devin brown go, that would clear a lot out. but if they keep their roster as is, im curious to see how beno, brent and finley all fit in to the spurs plans. im guessing finley is going to come off the bench? also who is going to finish games? Is finley going to be ok with finishing games on the bench? Will Bowen?

I imagine Finley will get the bulk of his minutes backing up Bruce Bowen, when Bowen's jumper isn't falling and the Spurs need points. As for who finishes games, I think it will depend on the situation. If the Spurs need a defensive stop, Bowen will be in the game. If the Spurs need offense then Finley or Van Exel is going to be in the game.
after what was appearing to be a slow offseason, the spurs have pulled off some wonders the past week in acquiring van exel and finley...with that team, you can always use shooters and thats what they did...im guessing finley will be taking barry's minutes and van exel will take the minutes that udrih had...great pickups for san antonio...
I think that the Spurs organization really is top notch and should be a model for any organization wanting to win. The Spurs are in a perfect postition to develop their players with the luxury of having competent experienced players waiting 'til the post-season like Horry. That's the beauty of the situation, even if NVE or Finley were upset at minutes all Pop would have to do is look down the bench point at Horry, sitting there with all his rings.
