Seattle rookie starter Michael Pineda reached base twice on Saturday night, or just once less than the San Diego Padres did through eight innings.

That's how well it's going for the Mariners and their talented pitchers, and how poorly things are going for the Padres in their own ballpark.

Pineda allowed only two hits while striking out nine in seven dominating innings and Mike Wilson had two run-scoring hits to lead the Mariners to a 4-0 win against the scuffling Padres.

    Fun watching him pitch.

M's are on a crazy streak of good starting pitching right now, and only 1.5 back of the division lead. Didn't think I'd be saying that heading into June 1.

Bedard's coming around, and having Vargas in the middle as a controlling-the-zone-soft-tossing lefty makes it hard to lose a couple in a row unless you can't hit for crap and your "closer" blows 4 games out of 5...

I'd like to see what Zdurencik can pull off at the deadline to get some value back from Wilson, Figgins and Bedard.

doesnt figgins have a few more years left?

and i doubt wilson will fetch anything, maybe a fringe prospect

bedard should be the best rental of the bunch, but as he settles in at around 4.50 era, maybe a fringe prospect or two there as well...
