Michael Saunders says he used to daydream about playing for the Toronto Blue Jays.

Soon, he'll get to do it for real.

A day after Toronto acquired the Canadian outfielder in a deal with the Seattle Mariners, Saunders said he was "honored" by the opportunity to play regularly on home soil.

"I think it was more of a storybook ending for me if you would, like, 'One day it would be really cool if I was able to wear a Blue Jays uniform,'" Saunders said on a conference call Thursday. "There's 30 teams, and the chances are slim that that would actually happen.

"I'm honored to be able to wear a Blue Jay uniform and I'm very proud of that."
