Poppycock. Most "regular" people I know could vacation in Spain if they desired. Most could stay in that hotel if they desired. All past first ladies have had similar expenses, and most world leaders and their families routinely do the same. There's nothing here to see, other than a difference in skin color.

The funniest part of reading this thread (and any other political-themed thread on S2) is that there's a false perception that anyone gives a shit about anyone's opinion on here, including mine, about Michelle Obama. Just small people complaining about things they understand little and have even less control over. Well, to be fair, she is using Air Force 2 for her private vacation, and she brought along not just a few secret service agents, but 68. I would imagine that if she paid for her own flight, and brought along a security team comparable to that which she would have in the states, nobody would bat an eyelash.
White President George W. Bush took 77 vacation trips to his 1,583-acre Texas ranch on Air Force One costing taxpayers a quarter million dollars a pop. That's 2 billion $ just for personal transportation alone. Never mind that he put in less actual total work hours than any President in history, despite having 8 years to do it. Never mind that Americans were dying daily in the 2 wars he started, he had no problem kicking back and tuning out their dying cries, and spending their family's tax payments on his life of leisure. Michelle Obama is paying all her personal expenses, as are her friends, who traveled on their own. Thanks to George W Bush murdering relatives of half the Middle East, it takes a lot more security to protect the First Lady in Europe these days, so we'll blame him for the beefed up security needs.
