BTW, this may sound churlish to say after a big win, but.....

The record book says MM went 17-28 tonight. How many of those 11 misses were actually bad throws? It sure looked to me as if some were catchable balls. This may be the weakest batch of receivers he has had to work with.

Maybe I just get too grumpy at 1 AM.

I only remember 2 drops, one by Stanford and one by Byron Marshall. But I'm actually high on our receiving corp, and we're even missing our #1 guy right now. Carrington, Stanford, Lowe and Allen....and Charles Nelson is going to be a weapon too!

rope a dope is what they do. They protect against the deep ball allowing the opposing offense to have shorter stuff if anything. This leads to longer drawn out drives that meathead announcers always portrait as wearing out Oregon's D. In actuality with the liberal substituting the Ducks do on D, the exact opposite is happening. In the Rose Bowl Wisconsin scored 28 in the 1st half but managed just 10 in the 2nd...none in the 4th. Stanford last season scored 17 in the 1st half, 9 in the 2nd with just 3 in the 4th. In tight close games, Oregon typically owns the 4th as their starters have played far fewer snaps... expect it

ha ha! perfect quote... "We feel like we had the team on the ropes, had the upper hand and just let the wheels fall off."

What a game. Makes you wonder if the recruits attending will commit on the spot.

I didn't think MM was sharp in the first half. There were a couple of drops early on, but I also recall him skipping a swing pass towards Marshall, overthrowing Thomas on another and trying to force balls into tight spaces where MSU made the play. He was brilliant scrambling in the pocket throughout the game, but his accuracy/decision making picked up in the 2nd half to my eyes

Was actually about to post something along those lines. Not that he was way off but on the two big plays for example the throw was just about 6 inches off and Allen and Carrington made fingertip catches that through their running off a little bit, and they stumbled. But glad they were able to bring it in.

really enjoying all the good write-ups from yesterday over this mornings coffee. Here's a nice piece on Marcus from ESPN's Chantel Jennings focused on his steady demeanor. I've always compared him to Joe Montana in that regard. There is just an above it all calmness that he projects regardless of the game situation. Calm cool & collected while great qualities for a winning QB demeanor apparently it makes for boring subject matter... boo hoo :ghoti:

Just going through this thread. Some of the posts are hilarious. I'm not picking on you Sly, but in general this fanbase, at least on this board has the temperament of a 10 year old when things aren't going right. I see it in Blazers games too. High highs, jump off a bridge lows. I'm glad the Ducks players don't have this mentality.

Its not just you guys. I have friends that act like this too.

LOL! Hey, it was a pretty up and down game.

And in my defense I was still predicting the Ducks would go to a bowl game.

If the Ducks lose a game this year this place will be a ghost town for the rest of the season.

Nah. That is coming, but the trigger will be Mariota leaving for the pros.

Likewise, I believe Mahalak will begin his own unique era of success, whether he or Waller wins the starting the job

Man...... Troy Hill probably played the best game of his entire Duck career against MSU. Statistically you might find another game that was better but he seemed to stick like glue on MSU's number 1 receiver who will probably being playing on Sunday's in the NFL.
