And to fair to Cal, he propelled that program to new heights. And as much as I hate to say it, Kentucky is a top 3 program in the NCAA. Maybe only UCLA is better.
Friday he said "Memphis is where I want to coach." Sunday he is all about Kentucky. The money isn't that big of a difference anyway. He goes from second best paid to best paid coach. Yes, Calipari is a head of guys like Roy Williams, Billy Donovan, Bill Self, and Coach K. All those coaches have something Calipari doesn't have, a National Championship. So much for the bad economy.
Cal isn't the only one to do that. Roy did that before he left KU, and I think Self did it before leaving Illinois.
of course, there is a big difference in the money. right now he makes 2.35 mil per year. if the 8 year, 35 mil contract that espn is talking about is correct that is 4.375 mil per year. that's 2 mil more per year. it's close to double what his salary is right now. if that's not a big difference, what is? i'm sure he'd love to stay at memphis. but he'd also love to make 2 mil more per season and go to a huge name basketball school.
Can you really blame me for hating him? I have been a Memphis fan since day 1. I have seen great years and bad years. Memphis was on the verge of something special with the recruiting class coming next year and the returning talent but Calipari makes us basically start from scratch with him leaving and all the players that will follow him to Kentucky. A big fan of any team like myself is inconsiderate of the money a coach is making because ether way he is going to make for than me.
obviously i can blame you for hating him. it sucks to lose your coach, but i don't see why you should hate the guy for taking a lot more money. and you've said a few times that the money difference isn't big when clearly the difference in money is huge. the situation sucks for you but it's no reason to hate the guy.
There is an * on the letter of indent that if Calipari leaves, the recruit is allowed to leave as well. Honestly I hope I'm just blowing this way out of proportion like I usually do. Calipari's ability to recruit is unmatched.
Are you sure that is on it. Because IIRC, Cousins didn't go to UAB because that wasn't included. Btw, Bomba will be mad until they get a new coach.
