I'll tell you, our division will be loaded next season. CBJ and the Wings will be good. Obviously the Pens will be good. NYI and Philly will be good. The Devs are the only team not good.

I am starting to get concerned that Sather thinks short season, players hated the coach at the end, new coach/system in place, Richards has to be better, we added needed depth in the Gabby deal, so we're fine no need to add.

I think that would be a mistake. We'll see what happens over the next few days.

Well, "Richards has to be better"=no space to add so what can you do now? They have to cut corners with Powe/Asham just to scrounge up 2m extra. I thought you were ok with Richards staying? Sather basically backed himself into a financial corner there.

I am fine with Richards staying. I rather keep him than be 1 of 10 teams to talk to LeCav. So I have no issue there. I want to do exactly what I have been saying we should do since the second the season ended, deal a dman for a scoring winger. We do that and we'll be fine IMO.

Tim Panaccio of CSNPhilly.com reports the Philadelphia Flyers are "OUT" on Tim Thomas, but remain in the mix for Ray Emery and Evgeni Nabokov.

I would go all in on E.Kane if Winnipeg is willing to take DZ/Miller+.

Emery would be a good signing for the Flyers, but doesn't put them over the top. Emery and Mason...with that D. We'll see. They should score a ton of goals, but we'll see with that D and solid goalie only.

I have to think Pronger's salary will go on LTIR otherwise how could they afford Emery. From what I see they are over the cap right now. If Emery signs for 3 mill let's say, either Pronger's money needs to be gone, or they need to deal someone prior to the season.

If they move Pronger to LTIR they would be just over 3 mill under the cap, so that might be just enough to sign Emery, and make a tweak or two to be just under the cap. Real tight.

Hello all. Glad to finally get on as I suck using a computer but finally figured it out. LOL. Glad to keep posting with you guys on our rangers. Unfortunately, outside of our rfa's doesn't look like much money for impact free agents due to keeping richards for another year so whatever offseason excitement will come from whatever trades slats drums up and seeing what youngsters are ready to make the jump to the big club. Hopefully, most of our espn group will make the jump here.

If the Rangers add a vet defenseman, that pretty much tells you they don't think McIlarth is ready. If they don't, they either expect him or a kid like Allen to win a job. That is pretty much the only move in FA I can see them making.

As usual, the Flyers are grasping at goalies. Not only were the Devils morons for not taking the high rated goalie. The Flyers followed it up with more stupidity passing on him. That is why their goaltending blows every season.

Looks like good chance Clowe to NJ as I mentioned above.

Also saw we are interested in D. Moore per Brooks. If that happens Boyle could play wing (if we keep him) and Moore would center the 4th line. Good PK and FO guy.

Also means we 100% should bury Powe and Asham in the AHL. Would save us 1.850 mill. A team can bury 925 k of a players salary in the minors.

Then maybe we can look to add a winger for some extra depth. Right now it looks like CK/Step/Nash Hags/Richards/Cally Pyatt/Brass/MZA Boyle/Moore/Dorsett

When you look at those lines it makes me think someone will be dealt. I have to think the Rangers want to try and have openings for some youth. Miller/Lindberg/Fast. Early on they would have room with Hags and Cally missing the start of the season, but I bet they want to clear another spot on top of sending Asham and Moore down to the AHL. Maybe Boyle and/or Pyatt gets dealt.

I think added D. Moore would be a solid move. He is a good PK. He can score 10 goals or so. He can win some faceoffs. I think he'd add some solid 4th line depth. For the first time in a while our depth would be real solid.

Brooks also comments on the D and Staal:

The Rangers could use depth on defense as well, though they seem to be prepared to enter the season with the current seven-man group consisting of Dan Girardi, Ryan McDonagh (presuming he is re-signed), Marc Staal (believed recovering well from his eye injury), Anton Stralman, Michael Del Zotto, John Moore and Justin Falk.

i am much more interested in scoring depth, which we have little of, than 4th line players depth.

Here is what I will say. I like the depth on D...I really do. That is a solid 7 dmen. I doubt you find many teams with a better set of 7 from top to bottom. And maybe mid season McIlrath will be ready to make a jump.

At forward, I like the depth, that would be a solid 4th line, but I think we need one more guy on the wing who can score 20 or so goals. Maybe if they bury Asham and Powe in the minors, and if they can somehow deal Pyatt or Boyle, they can afford a guy for a little over 2 mill . Figure Moore gets around 1 mill. You can save 1.85 on Powe/Asham. Then get rid of a Pyatt let's say, so you are looking at around 3.35 mill saved between those 3 guys. Should be enough to add a winger for 2 mill or so that can add a little pop.

Would I mind a guy like Moore or Lapierre to center the 4th line? Of course not, a Boyle/Moore or Lapierre/Dorset 4th line would be one of the better fourths in the leauge.

But a scoring winger is 10000x over a bigger need. Make all the moves you said, but instead of using that extra mil on a guy like Moore, save it so we can take on some extra salary in a trade for a quality winger. I dont want one off the scrap heap in UFA.

    This Pyatt signing was awful.

I think they are thinking of a 4th line of Pyatt-Moore-Boyle. I mean, as 4th lines go that is pretty good. However, you know my hatred for D. Moore. However, given the sad story of his wife, I'm willing to jump on board with him.

4th line depth they can get by integrating a Lindberg/Fast, no need to sign anyone down there. Like 31 said, they either need to make a splash for a forward or get a solid PP QB by moving DZ/Miller if necessary. I don't really see Falk contributing much, he seems like an AHL level dman but maybe they use him as the spare. Hopefully Allen emerges as a sleeper type. Personally, I'd put Boyle on waivers too but alot of you guys probably wouldn't be down with that.
