Man you'd think the guy sexually assaulted some kids with how much attention this is getting.

Huh? I'm talking about Rice as a player. Not anything that has to do with parenting. Sometimes crazy is just a genetic thing. I know I kick ass like my dad did.

Just because someone was intense on the court does not mean that genetically they are going to have kids that do the things Rice Jr. did.

Agree. Jr. is a grown man. It's not like he is a misbehaving 8 year old throwing a tantrum in a restaurant, where you can say, parents, get him out!

But it just goes to show how people's actions impact others. Hey, I'd send senior a nice message - HCP, to where? I don't tweet.

P.S. I cited Mr. Blow's column as an opinion I considered interesting. I did not say he was judge, jury, executioner, god or anything else but a columnist. I still think it's a better take than Sean Hannity and Michele Malkin.

    I don't care what Blow's take is.

Rice's players came to his defense. They didn't come out saying stuff like "thank goodness, it really sucked having him as coach."

Blow? Rice's players? I'll go with the players. They're actually informed in the subject at hand.

And note, I don't condone Rice's actions. I think the reaction is way overblown.

It's kind of like an abused wife coming to the defense of their husband.

    No it isn't.

It's like a basketball player coming to the defense of his former coach.

In the case of the abused wife, there are a lot of considerations as to why she might defend the guy. In the case of the athlete, he can choose to say nothing or bad mouth the coach - nothing to lose.

Sorry, dude, but you're so wrong it's embarrassing. He played for Coolidge College.

You don't think the players were afraid to say anything because they could possibly lose their scholarship?

That surely seems like the case. Instead they just transferred.

I've played for all kinds of coaches. My HS coach was a Phil Jackson-type. Soft-spoken and not a yeller. My college coach made Bobby Knight look like Stuart Smiley. When he yelled at you, he'd grab your facemask and call you every name in the book. It was just his way. Once you grew accustomed to it (as I'm sure the Rutgers players were), it wasn't a big deal.

It's not HS, it's college. Who cares what you're called? Sticks and stones. I never served, but I can't imagine drill instructors during basic training being touchy-feely. Like I said before, grow a pair.

He must not have been at practice then.

I wonder how he would feel if the coach did fire a basketball at his head and shove/kick him.

    Obviously not, dipshit.
