    I have complete faith in the Portland fentanyl zombie army to protect and serve against any military occupation. This is what happens when you awaken the thorazine shuffle masses!!! They may not have guns but they have dirty needles!!!!!!! They have covid!!! They have STDs!!!!!! On the other hand, the strip clubs are going to love those National Guard clients!     I spent a very nice afternoon in the Richmond area of SEP yesterday once I dodged the homeless encampments on every corner, open air fentanyl markets, Antifa bake sales, gangs of panhandlers and of course, the ubiquitous stray bullets flying everywhere. I then somehow made it all the way back out to the farthest most 'burbs with a zombie horde nipping at my heels until I passed the Portland city limits. Whew!!!!! I gonna feel so fucking much safer with the Army in town.

    What an incredible (and not in a good way) feeling of powerlessness......

    Reminds me of how the city of Yreka CA got its name (according to Mark Twain). It was a new town that hadn't been named yet. A newcomer rode into town and saw a newly painted canvas sign from the back side of it (as it was hung up to dry in the sun). It was for the bakery that was being constructed, and the wind had blown the corner of the sign back to cover the B, so that all the newcomer could read was YREKA. He asked the locals if that was the name of the town and it just kind of took off from there.......

    We now bring back to our regularly scheduled grousing and anarchy. ........

    This shit is stressful to me and my family. I know I've shared it before, but my dad was born Cuba, lived there until he was 12, and then his family moved to Venezuela. My dad immigrated here legally, joined the Air Force, and became a citizen, but he still has a Spanish accent. Our Supreme Court says that an accent alone can be enough to detain him. My uncle, his brother, has been here for 30 years, but his dumb ass never applied for citizenship; he's here under a green card.

    My family is now carrying copies of their official paperwork with them. My dad, a trip to the store now includes taking his passport.

    And now wtih the US likely to take military action against Venezuela... I don't know if my uncle will be here for long.

    I think what we need to do is assemble a crew of very attractive young people, and have them hug and kiss the soldiers pretty much continuously, so that the news reports out of Portland are forced to show that. And maybe some grandmotherly types to present them with pies and hand-knitted scarves. And maybe a parade downtown to celebrate their arrival. And dress Portlandia in military garb. And put up a 100' statue of whoever is in charge of the local deployment in Pioneer Square.

    The irony is that Portland, without any exaggeration whatsoever has been considered one of the best liberty ports in the entire world by the US Navy for most of the last 100 years. It is a true fact that the Portland area birth rate would take a small (yet noticeable) spike nine months after the Rose Festival Fleet visits. Perhaps we should call in the Navy to confront the army......? Better yet, the ladies of Portland should take your suggestion to its logical conclusion. Swap navy blue for butt ugly camo. Make love, not war!

    Our mayor lives down the street from us and he comes thru our neighborhood Starbucks, right Nextdoor to that pizza spot. Can’t imagine what’s going on in his head right now. Especially after the Portland Police Department just came out with a video and statement saying they will NOT be supporting ICE whatsoever. This shit is about to get crazy!
