Low pace doesn't bother me, but I find it a bit contradictary that someone could want Oden to be a low-post beast on offense while at the same time increasing pace dramatically. I'm not sure any coach could run an efficient and fast-paced offense without getting hurt on transistion.
Efficiency isn't as important as differential IMO. I also think if we scored a few more easy baskets it would help that category......Not that we were bad by any means
It would help, but still, the point of posting up Oden while pushing pace seemingly opens the team up to easy transistion baskets by the opposition. I'm not sure the plus of pushing pace in that scenario offsets what could be given up on the other end by having your shot-blocker out of position.
I have said this before, but as a coach, and a good one at a lower level (no jokes please) I run an offense that I think would be good for Portland. Brandon and Greg would be absolutely perfect as trailers. LMA, Batum and Bayless or whoever can get up court. If it's not there then kick the ball back to Roy who could start a pick and roll with Greg anywhere on the floor. Rotate from there. It is sort of the offense that Utah used to run with Stockton and Malone.
Sounds fine with LMA, but I still don't think running Oden up and down the court 94' on nearly every possesion is a good idea.
That's the beauty of the offense. Oden wouldn't be coming up the florr any faster than he is now, and on break points he wouldn't come up at all. If anything he would run less in that offense.
