I just don't want to wait 2 years for a PG to pan out right now. The window is now, not 2 years from now.
Brooks and Battier is not that impressive a package. Battier may be Captain Intangibles, but his production isn't very good. He's useful largely only on the defensive end of the court. Brooks is fast but mediocre. His few great games in the playoffs are making him hugely overrated by some. Of course, if Minnesota values Rubio highly (and obviously they do, since they selected him at #5), then it's unlikely Portland can put together a package that would satisfy them, since Portland wouldn't include Roy, Aldridge or Oden. Beating Houston's package is not that hard. Making it worth Minnesota's while is hard.
If you look at his college numbers, Bayless shot really well from deep. he is a scoring PG, and that is really what this team needs. We don't need a player like SErgio who sets everyone up, but can't score because it's easy to defend that. We need a player like Bayless who can beat people off the dribble. It's much harder to defend someone who you know can score, and can pass a little than someone who can't score at all so has to pass. Bayless will never have the court vision Sergio had, but he is a capable passer. He averaged about 3 assists per game in 22 mpg when Blake was injured. That would be around 5 per game if you stretched it out. Not horrible at all, and he should only get better at that. I already pointed out how much better Bayless was than Mills in college at everything.
I SERIOUSLY believe that Rubio was selected 5th with one mission in mind: trade him after July 1st/8th. This is why they selected their "favorite choice" in the 6th spot (cheaper to them in the long run). Rubio will simply NOT play with Minny. I don't even think Minny will be in a position to deal with the buy-out situation. I will not be that surprised to see a trade happening involving Rubio. And I believe that Outlaw, Bayless and Pick(s) is strong enough to get this done. Just saying.
If Rubio ever plays in the NBA, Bayless will eat him alive..Rubio can not score on the NBA level and I think he will fail to live up to the hype
Dear Timberwolves, I have two handfuls of shit. Perhaps you would like one of them for a lump of gold? Regards, This trade.
If (and it's a big IF) Bayless actually puts to use the work he and Oden put in together this summer, I'll feel a lot better about our chances at PG.
Good one! However I must reitterate: Dear Timberwolves, In response to your feelings on our handful of shit for your lump of gold. Please ask yourself if you are willing to wait it out and learn that your little lump of gold was only fools gold! Shit in hand is better than fools gold in Europe! PS: Travis, Bayless and Pick(s) is really not that shitty. And if Rubio refuses to ever play in Minny - then who is left with the shittier hand?
PS: Just trying to kill time before tomorrow! Can't wait ....hoping that draft-day disappointment doesn't linger!
He's not a true PG. He isn't a great distributor and has trouble guarding the smaller, quicker PGs. But, on the other end, there isn't a PG in the league he can't post up. BNM
I like it and I'm definitely drinking that P.S. Joel for Battier is that even possible?!?!?! I would do that in a heartbeat!
Joel and Battier have almost identical contracts (Joel's is about 300k more). Edit: I was wrong. Battier's is 7000 more next year.
As much as I love Pryz - this makes sense. Provide the entire lineup you posted were to fall into place! That would make for one "aggressive" F/A period!
I guess if you are saying something is better then nothing, then I agree. I don't think it is any more likely Rubio would ever play here. You honestly think he wouldn't ask Sergio how Nate was to play for before coming over? Besides which, Nate's offensive system wouldn't take advantage of any of Rubio's strengths, but would expose his weaknesses. Frankly, for the kid's sake if nothing else, I don't want Rubio in Portland.
