Or they could have simply added a fifth year to the contract. But the Blazers seem to be against five year deals for some reason or the other.
Yeah, I was shooting for a more painful poison pill. $500K for every game in Salt Lake City would mean that Millsap would get an extra $20.5 million if the Jazz matched. Per year.
Can't explain it. He will give you a 20/20 game and look all world and then disappear for a month. But the Jazz have real chemistry problems and they start with their two highest paid players in Boozer and Kirilenko. I have been telling my friends for a couple of years they have a problem. And they didn't agree..........until March/April. Both will be gone before too long. This is Deron's team and if Deron doesn't like you. Bye bye.
I didn't read too carefully, but I thought the size of the signing bonus was limited 17.5% of the total contract. So a fifth year would increase the bonus by something like $1.5 million? But at some point we run out of cap space to make the deal bigger. barfo
17.5% so.... .175 x 40 Million (Extra 8 million) = $7 Million signing bonus. The one he's getting right now is $6 Million.
Ha, it would be funny, but it still effectively doubles the cost, as they'd only get half the production for that $8 million / year. Not sure that would be worth their while.
How exactly are the Jazz being bullied? KP and Co. like Millsap and put together the best offer they can to get him. That's just business.
There is one glimmer of hope I am holding on to and that is that Utah just extened Okur's contract. Maybe they will come to the conclusion that Okur really is a PF and not a center. IMO they need a real center to get back to their physical play. They made it clear that Millsap's contract was starter's money. And if Okur starts over him........
