Martell needs to look good playing against other NBA teams before he starts taking minutes from Nic.

Stunning big losses for all players except the centers, Rudy, and Batum. Pritchard didn't do his job. First he passed up his enormous LaFrentz advantage at the February midseason trade deadline. Then he made no consolidation trades in the summer. Now he may have to make a panic move at the midseason.

Udoka with 9 minutes when he may not even make the team? Howard playing at center when we have two capable starters? Really? Wow... Are you just trying to make Maris look better? :devilwink: Ok, still way more realistic than that craziness.

Also, with "fringe" players (Bayless, Howard etc.) there is no point in comparing their MPG from last year as to how much they should get in a typical game, as they did not play in 82 games, like Bayless picked up almost 30 DNPs, but played more than what he averaged once Blake went down.

Your 1st post: Udoka was way better than Webster and Outlaw when the team kicked him out 2 1/2 year ago. They're about the same players now as then. Your 2nd post: I know. That's why I went to all the trouble to show minutes from two angles--per game, and total for the season.

Yes, he was better than Webster and maybe more consistent than Outlaw that year. But that was then. And now we have Batum, too.

As for your minute distribution, you divided 48 minutes between 14 players. Nate doesn't have to do that. It seemed to me that you were making the point (based on your proposed impossible distribution) that a lot of players would suffer a huge drop based from what they averaged last year.

OK, here's my 10 man rotation if everyone is healthy:

    Miller 32, Blake 12, Bayless 4
    Roy 26, Rudy 22
    Batum 24, Webster 15, Roy 9
    LMA 36, Outlaw 12
    Oden 32, Przybilla 16

Since there will be injuries, quite a few of them can average more than this.

If Webster plays well, this is a tough one. Obviously I don't think Nate will play Miller and Batum this much (I have a feeling Blake, Webster and Outlaw will be on the court more, as Nate loves him some spot up 3 point shooting). I hope he will not limit Oden's minutes more than his fouls would just to please Joel.

So I agree with the general consensus that something needs to be done about this.

Howard will get his 328 minutes especially when we DON'T have 2 good centers--when one's injured. If either Joel or Greg has his usual season-ending injury, Howard will get a thousand more minutes than that.

I have no idea what Maris has to do with this, other than that he won't like my low estimate of Outlaw's minutes. As for craziness, let's discuss yours. You have apparently envisioned, between the lines, an invisible prediction from me of Sergio's minutes with the Kings. That's the only way you could be thinking of Maris. I'm sure my invisible prediction would be higher than yours, because Sergio's a great passer. As a rookie, he ranked 4th on the Blazers in efficiency points per 48 minutes. Last year, his 3rd, he ranked 6th on the team. With or without defense, that's enough to keep him in the league for many years.

    Ummm.... sure!

(BTW, I never understood the Sergio hate, sure he wasn't a good fit with Nate, but I saw him as a possibly fairly useful change of pace bench PG. I think it had a lot to do with a particular poster's over the top posts about him. I didn't mind those too much, neither him bashing Jack and Bayless (amazingly never Blake lately), but these days he's really taking it up a notch regarding Andre Miller. It's such a trainwreck, I can't help but click 'Display post'.)
