    I don't think he changes his polling methodology later in the election season.

    He wouldn't be in business or taken seriously if he did.

    Well, there is another explanation, namely that his methodology simply works better closer to elections. One can imagine several ways that might be true, e.g. a mis-weighting of who is likely to vote.
