<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (chang @ Sep 5 2006, 07:47 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>As much as I want Chien-Ming Wang to win, he won't.As someone stated, ERA is pretty important and if it's only a 1 or 2 win difference, ERA & SOs determine the tiebreaker and Wang has no shot at competing with Santana and/or Halladay there. If Wang ends up with the most wins, he'll be hard to overlook but if Halladay and Santana continue on the same pace, Wang finishes 3rd.</div>Wang isn't a K pitcher, he's a ground-ball pitcher. People need to understand that it's a different type, but not a worse pitcher by any means. There is a reason Johan Santana has given up Twice as many Home Runs as Wang. Because while Wang doesn't get the K's, he doesn't give up the big hit's either. A cold-ball grounder to 2nd is just as good as a K usually. And when I said the Wins-ERA thing above, ESPN hadn't listed Santana as a 16 game winner yet.In Reality, Santana is the winner, but I hate that Wang is discounted just because he's not a flame-thrower, he's a coldstone thrower.
