On the one hand, I think SLC Is just the shiny object in the mirror right now, I do wonder how they will handle all the territory rights that giving a team to SLC would create. I know the articles state that they wouldn't be stealing from another teams market, but that's simply not true. They are in Colorados market, and once Vegas is confirmed, you could argue they are in theirs too.

I agree they are the shiny new toy but they also seem to be motivated like the leadership in Portland isn't. Yea they might get Rockies games now, but they are 400+ miles away from Denver, Vegas and Phoenix, so I doubt those teams will put up a fight quite like Seattle would over Portland. Seems like the cards aren't in PDX's favor, but all of this is still a long ways from happening and a lot can change.

It is good news ... the A's to Vegas has been pretty much a done deal for a couple years now. Until the A's and Rays stadium situations are figured out, there will be no expansion. The Rays were THIS close to actually splitting their games between Tampa and Montreal but that all fell through at the last minute. I'm still not sold that St Pete/Tampa will ever give them the stadium they really want/need, so more waiting figures to be in store.

Not sure why we need to put the team in Portland. Put the stadium out in Woodburn or something. Call them the Oregon Woods.

There's almost no way that they can find the space in Portland, but at the same time, other parts of the region are anti-sports/NIMBY, where are you going to be able to find a place to use?

Step 1: Move all the homeless out to where you want to build the stadium.
Step 2: Drive away all the NIMBYs
Step 3: Buy up the land and build the stadium.
    Step 4: ?????
    Step 5: Profit

Actually a team in Portland would increase Portlanders going to Seattle for series. I'm not a Mariners fan and have no reason to watch their games on TV, or in person. Actually the A's moving to Las Vegas just increased PDX's chances, due to the fact MLB wants a Pacific Division when expansion happens and needs another Pacific site. Mike Barrett was on Rip City Radio yesterday and seemed confident in their chances. He also said the City Of Portland's leadership is on board now.

It does make more sense to add a team on the west coast.

Serious question - it they had a MLB ballpark in SLC would they be able to sell beer at the ballpark? I mean, what's the point of having baseball without beer?

It’s going to the burbs. If you listen to Barrett and Cheeks latley they always give clues by saying Portland “metro” area. They always add metro for a reason. I think they know they have a site lined up somewhere in Washington county is my theory

I think the park will be off 205 near Lawnfield /Utility trailer, where the tall antenna is.

I recall during another effort a number of years back, that site was high on the list and avaiable. Just a wild ass guess on my part.

Maybe the Portland diamond project put on 15 lbs of muscle over the summer.
