Sounds like the A's to Las Vegas deal is falling apart. Rumors are the A's are looking now at Salt Lake City.

On another note. For them to be this close to spend $50M on this useless piece of land do they know something behind the scenes for them to feel so confident to spend that type of money?

Isn't it just one lane in each direction and some bike paths? No way is that enough to handle a baseball stadium.

No its two bike paths in either direction and removing a lane of traffic on each side. Wait is this Portland or not?

I thought it was just a temp stop gap in SLC until the Vegas stadium is finished.

Also, I've been reading the tweets from fans, including a lot who are acting like going from Vancouver (Wa) to Red Tail would take "2.5 hours".

It'd take a long time to get to anywhere from Washington, and tbh, they don't need to be building it based on what is easiest for the people across the river.

Exactly. I’m not that excited by the location but it’s better than nothing.

I’m curious what % of fans that attend Blazer games live north of the river. I’d imagine a decent chunk.

What do you think a "decent chunk" is? 20%?

If they can pull off a "sunset" view of the coastal range I think it could be real nice.

From reading the story on ESPN, it looks more like they just need to figure out how to bridge the years until the stadium in Vegas is built.

My guess is they stay in Oakland until the end of the local TV contract. If they have $70M locked up, I doubt they could ever get that much money anywhere else.

Unlikely. Most baseball stadiums tend to look east, I believe

Wow... that seems really high to me.

Even 30% would mean a higher percentage of people from Vancouver go to games than those from Portland.

Doesn't get much worse than building this on 217 in Beaverton.

I’d say the suburban folk are the biggest draw to Blazer games.

There are a good amount of season ticket holders here in Vancouver but would be shocked if the percentage was anywhere around 30-40%. Portland population is multiple times higher and surrounded by many more affluent areas. Not for sure if the Remix are any indication, but they have not drawn very well. It is tougher for friends that have to commute from the Hillsboro/Beaverton area but a very convenient drive for me here across the bridge. Hillsboro Hops and Eugene Emeralds are only drawing 2k as well so the low numbers may be just to it being minor league.

I do not like driving on 217 during busy times but would probably still make the trip occasionally if MLB were at the Red Tail location. It is not too far from where the Timbers/Thorns play and I have no problem going to 10-15 games a year.

Honestly, enough of the Washington county sports fans and the rest of the Portland fans who will go will be plenty to fill that stadium.

Remember they don’t build huge stadiums anymore. They make them smaller and more entertainment focused.
