I mean thats fine if its maybe a few hundred people... but if theres 50,000 there's no way OMSI parking lot is making a dent in that.

There is a lot of parking over there, even outside of OMSI.

Parking at Rose Quarter and taking max could probably work most times. Also, the convention center is over there.

And you could even add more parking structures...

Take advantage of Max and the streetcar...

A floating parking structure perhaps? A one of a kind.

Not sure what's planned for this space but its the perfect spot for a parking garage.

Yeah parking seems really doable in that area. Especially if they run a lot of public transportation.

Also - much of the parking in South Waterfront is underground. OHSU has a 3 level underground lot that stretches over 2 blocks.

I think traffic will still definitely be annoying, and it's a different scale, but look at PGE/Providence, whatever the hell it's called park. They fit 25k and have 0 parking lots or structures by them.
Baseball no longer does the 50k stadiums. It'll likely be in the 35k range. It's still not great, but if we can make 25 happen with nothing, 35 with some space around should be fine.

Or we can wait a few more years till baseball only needs 25k, and then we can just put the team into Civic Stadium.

    Problem solved.

There is a sweet spot in there somewhere? I wonder if they should add some pickleball options? Drone racing?

Why would there be 50,000? I'm assuming the capacity of the stadium would be around 37,000 or so.

Here are the capacities of the most recently built baseball stadiums.

In Seattle, in 2024 the average attendance was 31,553.

I think it's more that the group that is doing it doesn't necessarily come off believable at times.

Not that it couldn't work here or shouldn't be here

We're a fanbase/city that has been used as leverage a lot, we're cynical. Plus, the have grandiose ideas, and no real concrete #s or transparent information.

And look at Vegas and Utah. Vegas got NFL, NHL, is about to get MLB and NBA...Utah got NHL and have made public declarations of how much money they've put aside and who is in charge and how it will be done.

PDP has released unrealistic artistic representations of what they want to do, and hats.

We know that Utah has 3.5 billion from the Larry Smith foundation.

Can you name a dollar amount and any *real* leader who has that kind of cheddar?

Unfortunately money in the Portland metro area might be more concerned about having enough cheddar to keep the Blazers here when that becomes necessary.

Jody and her bullshit may be helping to freeze the kind of investment that would be necessary to support another franchise or facility.
