There are plenty of park and rides available for the max and it's expanding all the time so all you have to do is drive to a convenient location to hop on max. I catch the one at 60th and Glisan and 15 minutes later I am dropped off in front of PGE Park and a short walk to my gate. On the way home I usually wait for the first two to leave and catch the 3rd and plenty of seats on the max and 15 minutes later I am at my stop with a short drive home. Tri Met adds more lines for the coming and going for games.

Here's the plan. We build a huge parking lot in the burbs around a roughly circular stadium-sized concrete bunker. The fans park, go through security etc., and are told to take the 'tram' to their seating area. The trams are secretly buses with the windows blacked out, which deliver them to the interior of the actual stadium in town. Everybody's happy, although there is some complaining about how slow the trams are.

The whole post comes down to "I have no real problems with mass transit and actually enjoy using it when appropriate for my needs"
Fact is Tri Met is one of the leading transit systems in the entire country. Your "No Faith" seem unfounded. Tri Met is very very good and can get you pretty much anywhere in the entire metro area for very cheap. Kind of seems like you just like driving for the most part. I do also but when "My Needs" need a bus Tri Met does very well.

I can easily catch a free bus from Wilsonville to the Tualatin (or Barbur) Park & Ride and then catch another bus to pretty much anywhere I need to go in Portland. However, the last bus back out to the ‘burbs still leaves about 8:15 pm. I certainly haven’t seen them adjust that for games or any other reason.....at least to this point.

Where I live there is a morning and late afternoon bus into Eugene and back...not set up for anybody trying to get to work and nothing on Sunday...used to be a passenger train that went from the coast to the cascades....nobody used it enough to sustain. People are car addicted in the US pretty much...I talked with a young guy here who got a DUI and lost his job because he couldn't drive....my advice was move somewhere with public transportation and make a living

Just because it’s “one of the leading transit companies in the entire country” doesn’t make it automatically “good”. It just means it’s better than most. And as I keep trying to point out (based on personal experience), it is not convenient for those of us in the outer suburbs unless we adjust to Trimet’s schedules rather than try to keep to our own. I’m certainly not going to take a bus to a ball game if I have to leave by the 3rd inning in order to catch a bus home. Trimet does what’s best for Trimet. If that happens to coincide with customer needs then that is a happy accident. I’m all for mass transit. But it has to serve everyone who pays for it, not just a select and/or convenient few. I love mass transit when it’s serves my needs but Trimet too often misses the mark. And judging by PDX traffic in general, I’m not the only one who “seems to just like driving for the most part”............

Russell Wilson and wife, Ciara, are investing in the movement.

First time I can say anything positive about Russell Wilson.

I strongly disagree. As someone who rode the Max to and from work for several years, the damn thing is packed to the gills during rush hour. The park and rides are completely full before 8 am. Ridership is not the issue. The fact is that it's not big enough or efficient enough to move a significant enough number of the population.

It looks nice on paper, but it's horribly designed and the trains are too damn small.

Unfortunately the system may not be perfect for a minority, but the Max rail system does offer easy access to the majority of the Portland Metro area so it is accomplishing much of what it is intended, especially for events at PGE Park, The Moda Center and for a new ball park in NW Portland.

What a coincidence. During rush hour, freeways and streets are too small, too. The rest of the time they're the right size. If bigger, they'd cost a lot more. We need buses and freeways which expand and contract.

I'm not worried about our team moving. At all. I just hate when people give a nickname where one is already given. Blazers is of course short Trailblazers. Do we need to shorten it more?

    "Zers"

    Is just annoying.
