You would have to make a choice to leave the DARK SIDE!

    Shameful.

Being born in Portland obviously obligates you to hate anything Seattle.

It's on every Oregon birth certificate. :dunno:

Just saying Microsoft is Seattle (area), so as a Portlander, shouldn't I hate them? Just trying to figure out the rules here...

I've never cared about the Mariners even a tiny bit. If Portland had a ML team, I'd definitely drive up and catch a couple of games a year. I just hope it's a National League team.

Mariners have had some all-time greats (Junior, Randy, Ichiro....) and just let them rot on mostly weak rosters. I don’t know how anyone supports that franchise.

Microsoft doesn't represent Seattle. They don't put Seattle on their logo.

I'm not sure why it's so hard for some Portland fans to get this. It's like Boston and New York.

    We hated the Sonics.

    We hate the Huskies.

    We hate the Sounders.

So naturally, I hate the Seahawks. I don't really care about the Mariners. I just don't understand how people can pick and choose which Seattle team to hate.

OK, makes sense. How about Costco though? Do I need to hate them since half the stuff they sell is "Kirkland" brand? :devilwink:

Man..... it's so weird that there's so much info that they won't share.

    Who the investors are?

Costco is a public company, you can find out who the major investors are.

    Simple.

My Dad raised me as a Husky (alumni) and Seahawk fan (he grew up there).

We moved to Portland when I was two. He didn't follow basketball so he didn't raise me as a Sonic fan. I fell in love with the Blazers and basketball in general in the late 80's.

I became a soccer fan when the Timbers went to MLS. So I am a Timbers fan and I hate the Sounders.

That's different though. You have roots in that area. I'm from Portland. I was born here. My parents went to UO. I was raised a Duck and hate the Huskies. I grew up during the heat of the Blazers/Sonics rivalry. Hating Seattle is part of life.

I get that you're being funny, but do you equate supporting a team with buying some milk? Because I buy Kirkland milk from Costco, but I only do it because it's cheap. I don't wear a Kirkland tshirt. I don't put Kirkland decals on my truck. I don't frequent a Kirkland message board.

How do you view supporting a team? Is it just a transaction to you? For many people, sports are a huge part of their lives. It's something that identifies them. They wear the jersey of their favorite player. They rock their team's hat wherever they go. They religiously go on their team's message board (who would do something like that anyway?) and argue with people about their team.

There have been studies on sports teams and how they have a symbiotic relationship with the sense of place of a city.

I was more focused on dviss' take that being from Portland obligates one to hate anything Seattle. I don't support the Mariners, but I don't hate them either. I'm rather indifferent to them, actually. Is that acceptable by your standards?

You should. Their OT section is much larger.

No. You must have an intense hatred. It is required.
