I am not shitting bricks here. I ran into Mayor Adams at the Lawrence Gallery at 9th & Davis at 8:05 pm thursday night. He was wearing a black sport coat and a lighter blue shirt underneath. He introduced himself as Sam, and I immediately opened my mouth and suggested that he should talk to Merrit buying the Portland Lumberjax and Merrit could have a team that would belong to Portland all season long (MLL). Sam, replied back as an creative idea and would bring that across to Merrit since the Jax could play at PGE park in the summer.

my point wasn't that I think it will fail, or leave, but I hope that it won't and stays here for decades. I think it can.

I'd never go to another game again. Not because I disagree with the plan, but because I have absolutely no reason to go to SE Portland to watch minor league baseball. The best part of a Beaver game for my girls is getting to go into downtown Portland.

Yep. You can thank the vocal minority who think the Memorial Coliseum is some architectural wonder and forced the City and other planners to scrap that idea for the AAA stadium. Now it's going to be nestled wonderfully between Wal-Mart and the moldy concrete support structure for I-205.

    Sometimes I hate this city.

When was the last time you went to the Memorial Coliseum PapaG? That building needs major help. Now the building is going to sit there, with new paint from time to time, the insulation inside the roof is going to keep the same water stains as before, and more cracks are going to develop within the concrete. Its an eyesore. City of Portland won't do anything else for that building for a good 10-15 years.

Tickets will go up as expected, but not quite double. http://www.soundersfc.com/Tickets/Single-Game-Tickets.aspx
Current Timbers seats are $12, 16, 20 and $29 for the day of game.

I'm for a stadium at Memorial Coliseum, at least compared to the miserable idea of placing the Beavers in Lents Park, which isn't going to happen BTW.

Word is the MLS deal is on very shaky ground and that the Paulsons won't back the bonds if the Lents plan is followed.

Yeah that's not new info. Merritt has been saying that for a long time. He won't back the bonds because he doesn't think Lents is as sure of a thing as the Rose Quarter, and I can't say I disagree with him. Nearly 1/3 of the fans attending Portland Beavers games last year were from Washington County, and you can pretty much wipe most of them out of attendance projections if they put a stadium in Lents.

As for the MLS deal being on shaky ground ... I disagree. This is all part of the political posturing. If MP thinks the worst case scenario is going down, he'll merely sell the Beavers to another group or move them to another market. Then you just have to do the renovation of PGE Park for the MLS team and you don't worry about the siting of the AAA park.

I really doubt they'll add a ticket tax to the Trail Blazer games for this. How can they? The city has owned the parking garages over at the RG since day 1. So them using money from that isnt a big deal IMO.

That post is from March, before the software of this site was changed to not allow that code to work.

It was great to see 13,000+ fans at the last Timbers game at home.

Awesome coverage by USA. I bet the timbers will make more news as the transformation to soccer and the teams success with their win streak at home.
