They showed the Best of 2007 fights last night on Spike TV. It was amazing how many outstanding fights there were last year.

I completely forgot about that great fight Huerta had with Diaz. Those two went all out with Huerta getting the best of Diaz.

Yeah, the Garcia fight was a good one. Bad Boy is a gamer.

woooah! Marcus Davis at the 6th best WW in the world?
seems a little high to me, he hasn't faced any top 15 WW's yet IMO so I'd have Conduit or Koscheck ahead of him. Kos may have lost but he lost to GSP.. no shame in that and he shouldn't lose merit for that if Davis gets merit for beating lower middle talent.
Conduit is the WEC champ and has won 3-4 fights in a row in the WEC to get the title and his last loss was a decision to Jake Sheilds a guy who has been finishing his fights of late.
    other than that, great list.
and again.. the HW list makes me want to cry.. Kongo is so one dimensional his nickname should be turtle for when he hits the ground.
Tim Sylvia gets title shots by default, I am beggining to forget the last time Fedor fought someone of consequence who was in his weight class, Cro-Cop either doesn't have it or doesn't want it and he cold easily be one of the most exciting fighters in the UFC...

Well Condit has faced lesser competition than Davis, except for Shields, who defeated him. Davis is riding an 11-fight win streak (only two wins by decision, both unanimous) and has defeated some UFC veterans during that run. He knocked off Pete Spratt and Shonie Carter, as well as a talented young guy in Paul Taylor. Koscheck was dominated by GSP, his fight against Sanchez was borderline unwatchable, and he laid-and-prayed Jeff Joslin, so that is three so-so performances in a row. At one point in the Joslin fight he was stuck in a triangle and looked over to his corner with a "WTF?!" look on his face like he'd never trained for something like that before. Davis, on the other hand, just keeps getting better, it seems, fake Irishman or not.

Then again, Kos would probably smother Davis if they fought.

I dunno who I would have higher Koscheck or Marcus Davis, Kos probably is better fighter, but while Davis has been winning and Kos lost to GSP. I'd expect Kos to be higher in the rankings by his next fight.

HW is the hardest category to rate. Kongo is a physical beast, CroCop had absolutely no chance of standing up with him. I'd probably take Crocop off the top 6 and put 1 of these guys on there, Arlovski, Werdum, or Gonzaga.

Fedor is the best fighter in the HW, but I wonder if he deserves a lower ranking due to not fighting top competition.

That's why I have him where he is. His next fight is supposedly against another kickboxer with no grappling defense in Semmy Schilt, a guy Fedor has already beaten.

it's funny Schemmy is nearly unbeatable in K-1 but topple the big man over and he's a turtle like Kongo or Hardonk.
Why hasn't M-1 signed Josh Barnett to face him. Heck I'd love to see Paul Buentello have a shot at Fedor, he'd do better than anyone Fedor has fought recently.

Well that sounds like an easy win for Fedor. That Techno Giant is good at Kick Boxing, but also wasn't a wrestler and had fought 1 game of mma before.

that techno guy is a scrub. Schemmy is the 2 (or 3 time) K-1 grand prix defending champion. (IE he's the Fedor of K-1 kickboxing) If he has any improvement in his sprawl, Fedor can't beat him standing up. But Fedor doesn't have stupid pride and won't be out to prove he can win a stand up war. He'll take the fight where it needs to go and finish the fight any way he can.

I think Hughes could be Schilt.

I think he actually would beat Tim, just because Tim loves striking, and Schilt is a better standup guy. If Tim took him to the ground, he couldn't overwhelm him with strikes, Tim's ground 'n pound ain't great, but he'd get a decision. My guess though is that Tim tries to stand with him for the first 2 rounds, and starts thinking about takedowns in the 3rd but is too tired.

Schilt has a record of 25-14, who is the best guy he's beaten?

He gets some respect, although he lost, he at least was willing to fight Barnett twice, Fedor, and Big Nog.

I think Schilt would beat tim too cause Tim would try and stand with him.. then again after eating a crisp combo or two the may change his gameplan quick fast.

I'm not saying schilt is a good MMA'er just that against a much smaller guy like Hughes he'd have enough experience to make his size a difference.

I dunno, I think Hughes could take him down in the first minute, and then would try to get some type of submission.

I've taken Tim Sylvia out of the heavyweight six because it seems that taking him down, as Arlovski, Couture, Mir, and Nogueira have done, is a quick route to victory. Jeff Monson was too small, but a BJJ master like Fabricio Werdum could probably beat Sylvia.

hm not a lot of good active HW's out there though and Sylvia was taken down by AA via the punch [IMG] not wrestlin/BJJ/Sambo skillz
Tim still have very good takedown defence IMO
