Hi guys. Since there is Caleb's ceiling on the board, I guess I could put Moe as well. This guy is real pain for me. When you look at some of his plays you can see how much he's got in him. Yet, somehow he seems to hide it. I mean, I think he could go 25/10 but he doesn't want it. He can dunk an man, he can dunk so easy I could prolly see him on SDContest. And he can shoot threes (.500). So WTF is wrong? Is it just me and he is just normal bench player and I'm wrong about him as (could be) regular contributor for (some) team? BTW So happy to see Ed being such badass again.
I love Harkless (and want to keep him) but I think it is mostly mental makeup that is holding him back.
Agreed, and in two ways. I don't think he has the aggressive instinct to attack opponents, and I think he's also a little deficient in terms of always being in the right place on the court. And on top of that, I don't think the offense is intended for him to get a ton of shots. However, I don't think any of that is necessarily a bad thing. I like what he brings to our starting lineup. Sure I'd love for him to be a little more aggressive offensively, but I don't think it's necessary in order for us to be successful, as long as he's willing to take the shots that come to him.
I like Moe and believe he is valuable, but his ceiling on offense is low IMO. His 3 ball will improve as the season goes on, and yes he can dunk, but I see nothing in between with his below average handles and poor mid range jump shot. He has no go-to move other than the quick post up which is dependent on others getting him the ball immediately when he is open. His D has a higher ceiling, and he needs to get there soon.
Moe reminds me of a larger Antonio Daniels, which might place his ceiling higher than AD's, depending on how he plays his game.
I haven't seen any indication he's got a much higher ceiling than what we've seen. He's a great athlete and has a lot going for him. He is our starting SF, after all. We could be starting ET, which is what I expected when we traded for him. We could do a lot worse at SF.
His ceiling, IMO, should be judged defensively. At least, I think that's how it will end up when it's all said and done.
He's almost as frustrating as Batum. When he's on he's really fun to watch but his energy is inconsistent, as are his performances. His contract is still attractive so if we ever had the opportunity to package him for an upgrade at SF, we should definitely explore it. Or not. I don't really mind him on the roster. What I'm trying to say is, whatever.
I think he worked some on his post game this summer. He tried it a couple of times - so far, not with great success - but he has the tools - so he should continue to work on it. As Dviss said - he is the best at moving without the ball (but that's probably because Crabbe was moved, Crabbe did two great things - shoot and move without the ball). If he can up his defense and work on his post - he will be gold.
I’m not huge on Harkless. With the looks he gets he should be shooting around 38-40% from 3. He’s too inconsistent for my liking, and again his jumper is terrible. My goal for Harkless is to trade him, I’m hoping his young age can fool a team and take him for his “potential”. Maybe even adding a 1st rounder with Hark we can really get that difference maker at the 3. Imagine a Trevor Ariza type for the 3 on our team
No doubt both of those guy move well without the ball, but let's not forget about CJ. Just because he moves well with the ball, doesn't mean he doesn't move well without the ball. Harkless is great cutting to the basket and Crabbe did well moving around the perimeter. But IMO CJ does both well....I put him #1 on this team for constant motion.
This. I like Harkless. I think he has some room to grow, improve his shooting, and become more consistent overall. Side question: Any way to find out how many illegal screens he's been called for so far this season? It seems like a lot, relatively speaking
