sorry but I strongly disagree. howards playoff performances alone have been far more impressive than Vucecic in aggregate IMHO

Coon CBA FAQ #87-- No more than 55 picks in a draft can be protected.

Orlando Magic traded Maurice Harkless away for nothing

Maurice Harkless - Trevor Ruszkowski-USA TODAY Sports

Once regarded as part of Orlando's young core, Harkless was traded for almost literally nothing Tuesday.

The Orlando Magic traded Maurice Harklessto the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday and got, in a practical sense, nothing in return for him.

As the Blazers noted in their press release announcing the trade, the 2020 second-round pick they sent to Orlando is heavily protected, specifically "from picks 31 through 55."

I hope he can get some minutes for us. Right now he might be our 3rd SF depending on where they play Crabbe. If Crabbe plays more SG and CJ plays more PG (Which I am not a fan of) then he will be in the 2-deep. (or if they trade Henderson for a Backup PG)

On the other hand if he is working hard on his shot, he could actually start. The opportunity is there for him. I really like the athleticism that he brings, so I would love for that to happen. He just needs to be effective enough on offense to keep the defenses honest. He eleveates nicely on his pull midrange shot, if he can just knock it down on a more consistent basis we would have a very good young SF.

Harkless is better than Crabbe, IMO

Yes in certain areas. But not shooting. It will depend on who else is on the floor.

With Plumlee and Davis on the floor I would rather have Crabbe at SF. With Leonard and Vonleh on the floor I would rather see Harkless. With either Plumlee/Davis and Leonard together or Plumlee/Davis and Vonleh.......(and Frazier at PG) ...maybe Crabbe. If it is CJ or Dame at the point ....probably Harkless.

Bottom line is it would be nice to have a minimum of 3 outside shooters on the floor at all times.

I believe crabbe will play the 2 when cj at the 1. But mo will compete against crabbe for minutes at the 3 the loser of that will not be with blazer in 2016-2017 season. So let best player win.

Training camp is going to be the biggest dogfight ever for roster spots. I think Henderson and Harkless will play the two and Crabbe will play more three. I see CJ and Harkless at the guard spots and Crabbe at SF coming off the bench. Dame, Henderson and Aminu starting.

You know? This is my only concern about this. I know competition is good, it brings out the best play and Olshey seems to know how to find hungry guys who want it. I'm concerned the guys might go too far in their effort and leave themselves open to injuries before the season really even gets going. I have mixed emotions about this...probably only because of our injury history. If it weren't for that, it probably wouldn't even be a thought, but right now its in the forefront of my mind.

Agree. He's played the majority of his minutes as a SF during college and NBA.

He played some as a PF, SF, and SG for the Magic where he had his highest PER as a SF and lowest as a SG. For our team, he'll probably see most of his minutes as a back-up SF with spot minutes as a PF in some small ball lineups.

Keep forgetting about this guy, for as crappy as it is to be rebuilding we've really upped our athleticism.

Buck up little camper! There is always a chance an athlete can be injured playing or practicing their sport. I wouldn't worry about competition during training camp it is only beneficial to the team. Also, I'm pretty sure any overzealous players can easily be kick out of the gym.
