Just like the players, supporters must prepare for the home opener this Saturday. Make sure you're ready!

Wear blue and don’t forget your scarf!

The first rule is simple: Invade Olympic Stadium in a sea of blue…and don’t forget your supporters scarf! Wear it proudly and lift it over your head at kickoff.

MONTREAL – A record crowd of 58,912 packed Olympic Stadium to cheer on the Montreal Impact in an entertaining 1-1 draw with the Chicago Fire on Saturday, setting a new attendance record for professional soccer in Canada.

But in the end, it was a happy trip home for the handful of Fire fans that had made the trip to La Belle Province, as their team rallied from a goal down thanks to a 71st-minute equalizer from Dominic Oduro.

Impact captain Davy Arnaud wrote his name in the history books in the 56th minute as he headed a Sanna Nyassi cross into the upper right corner of Fire goalkeeper Paolo Tornaghi's net. But the lead didn't stand as Oduro got the equalizer a quarter-hour later a great assist from Sebastián Grazzini.

MONTREAL, Quebec – The Montreal Impact will start a three-game sequence on the road as it visits the Columbus Crew this Saturday, at Crew Stadium, at 4pm (ET). The game will be broadcast live on TVA Sports and will also be available on illico Mobile.

“The guys feel confident based on how we played last game,” said Impact head coach Jesse Marsch. “There is a belief and understanding within the group that it’s coming together. We will continue to push the key ideas in training and to prepare ourselves for Columbus. The key is now to maintain the same level of commitment to training whether things go well or not and learn how to maintain the lead when we have it. We’ve been looking at different options all week to plug different guys into different positions to get ready for Saturday,

Montreal to shuffle deck after three games in one week
    [IMG]

After last Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at Columbus it’s not just the right back position, with Jeb Brovsky suspended after his red card, that could see change this Saturday at Red Bull Arena. As it turns out, the midfield might see some movement, too.

“We may make a couple of changes,” Marsch told reporters on Tuesday. “We’re just looking at each game individually and the week as a whole to try and see how to handle it the best way, to give ourselves the best chance to get as many points as possible.”

Henry's hat trick and assist fuel Red Bull rout of Montreal at RBA

HARRISON, N.J. – The New York Red Bulls talked all week about wanting to be unbeatable this season at Red Bull Arena, and they looked the part on Saturday.

Led by a hat trick from Thierry Henry – his first with the team – the Red Bulls won their second game of the season while keeping the Montreal Impact winless with a 5-2 victory in front of a crowd of 13,415 on a nippy afternoon.

The Impact began the game well, imposing their will in the midfield and creating chances through Sanna Nyassi against a Red Bulls team that did not look sharp.

That pressure paid off when Montreal opened the scoring in the 19th minute. Dane Richards attempted to clear the ball but barely got a touch, resulting in a bouncing ball that got away from Markus Holgersson. That bad touch from the center back allowed Nyassi to race onto the ball and fire home easily from close range.

Positive results against University teams with CSL season one month away

With the MLS season in full swing, the Montreal Impact U21 team is still in the midst of preparing its 2012 upcoming season in the Canadian Soccer League (CSL), set to begin the first week of May.

And just like the first team, the Academy is looking to take advantage of a long preseason in order to ensure the players’ continued development and a true understanding of the system the coaching staff is looking to implement.

“The CSL season is a tool to help develop these young players, but it’s not the only one,” said the Director of the Academy Philippe Eullaffroy. “The league lasts only seven months of the year, but we work 11.5 months with these young players. The quality of the opposition is important, but the quantity is primordial. Therefore, we can’t just leave the U21s for five months without training or matches. This is why we play many games before the CSL season starts against good opponents, like University teams, to further their development.”

Short turnaround ahead of RSL suits Montreal just fine
    [IMG]

The Montreal Impact are in recovery mode, still nursing their wounds from being on the wrong end of a 5-2 score line at Red Bull Arena.

On Saturday, head coach Jesse Marsch emphasized his side’s mental mistakes caused the damage against the Red Bulls, insisting there were “a lot of little things to work on.”

They have the chance to do just that Wednesday night against one of the top team in MLS, Real Salt Lake (8 pm ET; watch LIVE online: http://live.mlssoccer.com/mlsmdl/?utm_source=MLSsoccer&utm_medium=Article&utm_campaign=MLS+Live). The Montreal boss feels a competitive game four days after the New York drubbing helps his team avoid dwelling too much on their plights.

And such an approach on Marsch’s part, it seems, suits his players well.

    Recap:
Paulo Jr.'s PK gives RSL 1-0 win over Montreal
12th minute goal enough to secure three points for home team

SANDY, Utah – Real Salt Lake didn’t make it easy on themselves, but they managed to notch their fourth win in five games, beating the Montreal Impact 1-0 courtesy of a Paulo Jr. penalty kick in front of 20,191 at Rio Tinto Stadium on Wednesday night.

RSL generated the better of the chances early in the first half despite a high, aggressive Impact press, but lacked the final ball in the attacking third.

    Nick Sabetti:
Impact look to continue history of Montreal dominance over Toronto

The Montreal Impact will take on Toronto FC Saturday at Olympic Stadium for the first time in MLS. A win is a must for both, but they also have something to prove.

While the Montreal Impact will be locking horns with Toronto FC for the very first time in league play on Saturday, the soccer history between Montreal and Toronto, though an intermittent one, goes back forty years.

And when it comes to soccer between the two metropolises, Montreal has been dominant. The
    numbers speak for themselves.

Since 1971, Montreal and Toronto have played in the same soccer league 16 times. Of those 16 seasons, Montreal finished ahead of Toronto on 11 occasions.

MONTREAL, Quebec – Following three consecutive games on the road, the Montreal Impact (0-4-1) is back home to play its second game of the season at Olympic Stadium, this Saturday, against its Canadian rival Toronto FC (0-3-0). The game will be broadcast live on TSN/RDS and is available on illico Mobil

Kick off was changed from 1pm to 12pm (ET). The stadium doors will open at 10 am, while the ticket office and store will open at 9am.

Over 20,000 tickets have been sold for the big derby. The club invites all supporters to join La Garde to “Defend the North”, as more than 1,000 Toronto FC supporters will invade the stands for this matchup.

As Montreal and Toronto at the bottom of the Eastern Conference, questions are being asked surrounding the teams’ struggles so far in this young season. However, there are some stats that show a significant difference between the two sides that suggest the Impact may have a slight edge for Saturday’s first tilt of the season between these two Canadian rivals.
