Two upcoming Clipper losses and a Warrior loss - - -? would this get KP to make changes?

I'm nervous about both the Clippers (twice) and Warriors games!

I'm nervous about every game with this team. Our margin for error isn't very great. I still think this group is a .500 team, and .500 teams do lose to bad teams - even at home.

sheridan seems to think a trade will go down... but who?

    Phil B (Pdx)

where do you see the blazers finishing this year? the past week has been inspired, but can they sustain it?
    Chris Sheridan (3:06 PM)

Gotta see how they resolve their big man shortage. The Pryzbilla injury, in some ways, was just as devastating as Oden's. I don't know how many more 36 minute outings Juwan Howard has left in his tank, and we still need to see who will end up being the odd man out among Blake-Miller-Bayless by the time the trade deadline passes, which I guess is a long-winded way of saying I have no idea how they'll fare long-term this season because I expect them to make a few significant changes fairly soon.

Pretty obvious to me. With a record of 20-13, we have 49 games remaining this season...and strong prospects that Oden will start slow next year...and Pryzbilla won't be available until January 2011.

We need a Center! Tonight's game against a 7-20 Sixters team proved a whole bunch to this regard.

Not many teams are going to covet Miller. Blake (yes, he's an expiring contract). Rudy - he's overrated around the league...but we all know better! Outlaw: if a team is truly looking to dump salary, then "maybe" they'll trade for an injured player??

PS: Any takers for Webster, by the way - - - how high did we draft him?

Not much different than his last season stats. He does play behind the best C in the league. not like he can do much to "earn" minutes.

Of course, from way out West we don't know the details, but from what I'm gathering, he simply doesn't play.

For a guard (Blake) and a draw (Rudy)* - I think we can obtain Gortat and a pick. And if we want to find one additional (and mutual) benefit by trading with Orlando - we should include Outlaw and take back Bass and Jason Williams (then waive / cut Williams, if need be).

    WE NEED A CENTER!

    * Orlando needs a guard, with Nelson's nagging injuries; Rudy, being from Spain, would have a huge following in Florida - he'd soon be a fan favorite, especially with his flashy/fun style of play, etc.

I haven't really seen the Blazers come up in any rumors so far. But really the only thing that seems to be cooking at all right now would be McGrady wanting out of Houston, and Nate Robinson wanting out of NY, and Portland hasn't been mentioned in any of those scenarios. The only thing I read about was that Portland is watching to see if they will buy out McGrady flat out so he can get picked up for a reasonable price.

Does McGrady do anything for us? I mean, he'll demand nothing short of 15-20 shots a night, taking away from Roy's attempts.

And with our current karma, he'd arrive and get injured in his second game!

PS: I scour the RUMOR MILLS on the net, and I agree with you - aside from all the Lebron chatter, I'm only reading snippets about Nate Robinson demanding a trade...McGrady going home - presumably awaiting a buyout or trade...and some talk about Golden State listening to all offers, and Camby being available (as he has the league's largest expiring contract).

Funny thing about trades: the trades typically go down, then we hear of them! Rumors rarely pan out to be true!

Orlando is keeping Gortat for insurance against a dwight injury and for the playoffs when he'll become much more valuable to them.

As for the rest, I don't see Steve as much of an upgrade over the two backup point guards they already have and I'm not sure what Rudy being from Spain has to do with him gaining a following in Florida, he's not Cuban, or Dominican -- that's like saying Joel Freeland would be a huge fan favorite here in Portland because he speaks English.

The only reasonable price for McGrady would be him paying Portland 500K to play here and attempt to rehab his image. Other then that KneeMac can feel free to never play in the NBA ever again.

    Signing T-Mac would ensure us a first-round berth. And a first-round exit. :)
