    <div class="quote_poster">Quoting B-22:</div><div class="quote_post">How is Wayne overrated?

He works hard unlike most MC's in the game today, and he is just confident in his abilities as a rapper.</div>

I never usually say this about anyone, but Lil' Wayne straight up sucks. He may work hard, but he has terrible flow, his voice is annoying, his content is weak, his word play is sub par at best, he's just garbage all round.

For every person who says bs like this I can find a person who can give you lyrics and audio that makes them think the exact opposite.

Its all a matter of opinion.

    Wayne>Your favorite rapper.

LMAO, so you think Wayne > Ra, Cube, G Rap, Nas, Andre 3000, etc????.....I understand the whole "_______ is better than your favorite rapper" phrase that everyone tries to use nowadays, but please realize what you're saying when you actually use it....and I've heard plenty of lil wayne, from his albums to his mixtapes....and yes dude is a C team rapper.

Interesting thread, took me a while to catch up on all the arguements, so instead of quoting all the things that made my head tick.. I will do some ranting of my own.

    <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Voodoo Child:</div><div class="quote_post">Allow me to rant:
Am I the only one who thinks the whole "rap game" is overrated?</div>

I am glad you posted this (the entire post, just quoting the first of it). I agree with you in a sense tho. Music is what you make it. Some look to hip-hop for inspiration, or knowledge.. some listen to expression and passion, and some just to hear a nice ass "flow".

... and to the individual who posted about Nas. Thank you for bringing the Nas lovers' (which seems to be in well supply) on this board down to earth. Nas is easily one of my favorite arsists, bar none. But truth be told he has to the large scope of what people base his "greatness" off of, has put out some terrible albums to his name.

Illmatic - Ground breaking album. "Fire" in a sense. The raw talent on this album is phenomanal.
It was Written.. - Great follow up album. Probably one of the best sophomore albums there is.
I Am.. - Complete garabage to Nas' compared to his previous two albums. Trying to move into the scope of mass guest apperances with Puff Daddy, DMX, ect ect on this album was just a bad idea.
Nastradamus - I enjoyed this album for what it was, but like I Am.. it was pretty bad..
Stillmatic - His revival in a sense, I see a lot of split thoughts about this album, some say a watered down Illmatic, but I dont believe so. It has some GREAT songs on it.
God Son - Great album, period.

As far as Tupac goes, I agree a lot of his success now a days is breeded from his death, and its "the cool thing to do". However let that not take away from his music. He was never defined off how his lyrical skeems were, but more or less off his passion, love, hate, true character, not giving a f**K and the way he put himself out there...

Biggie, not enough to define how truely great he was going to be. Overrated - No.. what little he had was gold.

    Underrated - Az

Personal favorite, probably biased opinion, underrated - Cormega

    lol.

You can give me what ever you like from Lil' Wayne, its not going to change the fact he is garbage.

And you seriously think Lil' Wayne is better than Big L? (my favourite rapper).

Wayne is the 'flavour of the month'.

Check out what this guy said on another forum-

Lil Wayne would kill anyone in the game right now. Your the idiot if you cant comprehend what he's saying. It's called wordplay. Name one person that can **** with Wayne lyrically or freestyle wise. The only people I can think of that even come somewhat close are Cass and Papoose, but they aren't on his level.

    It makes me insane

I say he is the best in the game * asterik, obviously he isn't better than the obvious veteran legends that still rap, but he is better than most of the young dudes in the game.

I'll just call it as it is. Big was really just a beefed up Above Average MC-wise with an array of funny/clever battle punches. He's a top 10 MC all time, but top 3? hell naw.

yo authentiq read these lyrics again and see if you still feel the same way. this rap actually works as a poem on its own right

    [Verse One]
Remember back in the days, when niggaz had waves
    Gazelle shades, and corn braids
Pitchin pennies, honies had the high top jellies
Shootin skelly, motherfuckers was all friendly
Loungin at the barbeques, drinkin brews
with the neighborhood crews, hangin on the avenues
Turn your pagers, to nineteen ninety three
Niggaz is gettin smoked G, believe me
Talk slick, you get your neck slit quick
Cause real street niggaz ain't havin that ****
Totin techs for rep, smokin blunts in the project
    hallways, shootin dice all day
Wait for niggaz to step up on some fightin ****
We get hype and **** and start lifin ****
So step away with your fist fight ways
************ this ain't back in the days, but you don't hear me though

    [Verse Two]
No more cocoa leave-io, one two three
One two three, all of this to me, is a mystery
I hear you motherfuckers talk about it
But I stay seein bodies with the motherfuckin chalk around it
And I'm down with the **** too
For the stupid motherfuckers wanna try to use Kung-Fu
Instead of a Mac-10 he tried scrappin
Slugs in his back and, that's what the fucks happenin
when you sleep on the street
Little motherfuckers with heat, want ta leave a ***** six feet deep
And we comin to the wake
To make sure the cryin and commotion ain't a motherfuckin fake
Back in the days, our parents used to take care of us
Look at em now, they even fuckin scared of us
Callin the city for help because they can't maintain
    Damn, **** done changed

    [Verse Three]
If I wasn't in the rap game
I'd probably have a key knee deep in the crack game
Because the streets is a short stop
Either you're slingin crack rock or you got a wicked jumpshot
****, it's hard being young from the slums
eatin five cent gums not knowin where your meals comin from
And now the ****'s gettin crazier and major
Kids younger than me, they got the Sky grand Pagers
    Goin outta town, blowin up
Six months later all the dead bodies showin up
It make me wanna grab the nine and the shottie
But I gotta go identify the body
Damn, what happened to the summertime cookouts?
Everytime I turn around a ***** gettin took out
****, my momma got cancer in her breast
Don't ask me why I'm motherfuckin stressed, things done changed

has Lil Wayne done anything REMOTELY ONE TENTH as dope as this?
No. Has The Game? No. Rick Ross? No.

ALSO: if you think he's a top 10 rapper, then he's hardly AVERAGE.......

I meant to say he's a top 10 rapper all time, but not a top 10 MC, those two are different in retrospect. I'm actually a huge fan of Biggie, but as a lyricist he was sicker than average. He threw out some crazy punchlines (as stated earlier), but the man has very few classics compared to the other greats.

But when it comes to raw MC talent, Biggie was above-average and was great in his prime. But still, in their primes: Nas, Rakim, Slick Rick, Big Daddy Kane, Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, Method Man, Inspectah Decka, Jay Z, Mos Def, KRS-ONE, Scarface, Eminem were better than Biggie was. Biggie is probably ranked 13-15 on my GOAT MCs list. Let's be honest, 70% of the hip hop heads didn't even bother buying Big's CD until after his death. I remember up in New York, cats were treating him like Picasso taking value of his work after his death.

like Pac, Biggie was great, but groupie fans, magazines, etc. have a tendency of ruining their rep by insisting that they are the best ever...........hands down.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Nas, Rakim, Slick Rick, Big Daddy Kane, Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, Method Man, Inspectah Decka, Jay Z, Mos Def, KRS-ONE, Scarface, Eminem were better than Biggie was.</div>

I'll take Nas, Rakim, Cube (when he was good), KRS One, Mos, Scarface, and Eminem (when he was good) over Biggie personally
