If only Conservatives would actually follow the teachings of Jesus………too damn many of them use His words in order to get what they want for themselves and deny others. That isn’t exclusive to them of course, but if they feel the need to share The Word, then they should also be willing to hold themselves accountable and FOLLOW The word…….
Great question. That particular project is still in the works. That said, I do go downtown every Tuesday evening (rain or shine) and serve hot food to my many homeless buddies. Black, White, Hispanic, even some Asians in the mix. A veritable potpourri of skin color. There's also youth getting served, as well. It's a very fulfilling opportunity for me and I don't take it lightly.
As I mentioned, it's a mixture. Nothing wrong with that at all. Look at the face of the organization.
Not as much as Ted Cruz, Marjorie Taylor Greene or Gaetz......but where's that thread about contention? I haven't read about BLMs infighting period in the news in comparison to Jan 6th...the convictions of insurrectionists or voter suppression in the south...you are being pretty selective in fishing for civil rights dirt....there are plenty of serious crimes on a daily basis to use your highlight marker for....big uptick in gun violence since people are starting to mingle in public again. You must have had serious issues with Muhammed Ali given his jail time and anger over govt treatment of black people and asians. If as you say you want to be part of the solution you should support BLM and their cause with every fiber of white privilege you enjoy. That's working across the aisle. It's your responsibility and mine to address corruption and bad behavior from our demographics first before judging the civil rights leadership this early into their protests of police brutality and racial profiling.
Kudos....my son and I worked with Gleaners delivering food to the elderly here before he went to OSU....he won first citizenship award at his high school and it helped him get a full ride to university....everyone in my family has worked with the disabled and handicapped for the last decade or so part time until I retired....my wife and son and I....glad to hear you walk that walk. To me that is how you show faith in the world.

Yes because I don't waste my time watching news that isn't credible on the slimmest of chances that I might one day see something credible there. Even then, how do I know that it's credible?
Quite a while ago there was a study done on what highly successful people had in common. There were four: 1. Love of physical exercise; 2. Life long commitment to improving one's mental health; 3. A heightened sense of spirituality; 4. Helping others. This must be done purely voluntarily and professionally helping others does not count. Being a priest or a psychiatrist does not count. Mentoring counts, volunteering such as meals on wheels, ringing the bell for the Salvation Army at Christmas, volunteering for the poor and destitute or homeless people counts. And so on. No. 3 is not only for us religious types but also for the types such as Albert Einstein who saw all creation as being his god. I would say that the rapture gained from seeing the awe in the stars would count. God bless you, and keep it up.
