I usually never want to be a buyer at the deadline but this is something I would like to see. ...of course that's if we are in line for a playoff spot.

It is a good thought. Big issue is Nash though. Can we include him on the lines right now? Still hasn't even practiced yet. I am concerned.

Vro, i just don't know Vanek can score that many with JT. In '11'12 season (last full season) there were 4 players who scored 40+ and the year before that there were 5. Does JT make Vanek a top 5 player in the sport? i don't see that type of talent in him (Vanek).

I read today that 'the Thanksgiving return timetable is probably too optimistic' for Nash, still experiencing headaches. Not good. (Think it was Carps blog or Jan Levines blog)

Exactly vro. So we cannot count him in when we list our lines. It is sad but true.

Bummer news, but most importantly is that when he does make it back he's at 100%. Don't want him to come back early at the risk of getting hurt again and more severely.

20 goals/41 assists in 38 games last year playing with nobody. Not saying its a given, but I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see him explode playing with JT, especially in a contract year (probably his last big contract too)....we will see I guess

I would give the edge to vanek in a player vs player matchup. however the Isles weakness is in net and on the blueline. look for the Isles to acquire a solid keeper and maybe d-man early spring. They have the cap space and some young talent to bolster their line up come playoff time, even if the assets are just rentals. I'm sure this is just the first of several moves Garth Snow will make. As for Sather, we simply do not have the assets to make a big deal, unless your willing to move Hank as a rental and then try to resign him over the summer

I fear we're dealing with another Marc Savard concussion issue with Nash. If not yet then eventually. Can they get another year or two out of him?

Its certainly possible. He is clearly not coming back for at least a month, could miss the whole season + or more. Just sucks

Hypothetically, if this team never made the Nash deal, Kreider would never be getting on a chance on this year, Sather wouldn't have made the Brassard deal which means no Moore, Brassard or Dorsett. Essentially the Nash deal triggered the Gaborik deal.

The deal really was a number 1, Gaborik, Dubinsky, Anisimov and Erixon for Nash, Moore, Brassard and Dorsett.

So that being said if Nash doesn't play much more would you trade a number 1, Gaborik, Dubinsky, Anisimov and Erixon for Moore, Brassard and Dorsett?

I like Moore more than Erixon. I like Brassard more than Dubinsky. I like Anisimov more than Dorsett. I liked Nash a ton more than Gaborik last year. So basically, the Rangers could sign Gaborik back for money next year if he's a UFA. That would still make the trade a huge win.

My expectations for Dubinsky were that of Callahan. He never filled those. My expectations of Anisimov were that of Stepan. He never filled those. They are good role players but we expected more of them here. Brassard did in one playoffs what those guys were never able to do in the playoffs their entire time here. That was be a dominant player.

Well on one hand Snow made a bold move. But given he gave up Moulson (who got a prospect and 2 #2's) a 1st and a 2nd for 4 months of Vanek this move will be the final nail in the Garth Snow coffin

even a broken clock is right twice a day, Al....just kidding :)

but really, that had disaster written all over it. It's the Isles, how could it have worked any differently.
