No one wants to come to Portland. Granted, once here they fall in love, make Portland their home, blah, blah...but we are not the ideal market for attracting top free agents. So with that said, we must build through trade and the draft. How has Neil done?
This thread is not about a rebuild. It’s about maximizing a trade for our biggest asset (Dame) to acquire talent and draft picks. It’s a thread about keeping CJ over Dame and re-signing Nurk and Napier. Specifically, it’s about trading with Danny Ainge
The longer we strategize around CJ and Dame as our backcourt we’re screwed. Individually they are fantastic...but when on the court at the same time they are NOT a dynamic duo!
Wow. You really didn't get the joke I was making at you... You must not have realized the context of that whole exchange. Eek.
The thread is about stupidity. The stupidity of considering a Dame trade, and the stupidity of thinking Boston would even trade Kyrie for Dame straight across, let alone throw all that extra stuff in. Sorry if I'm being too blunt, but this thread is ridiculous.
Never forget when John Canzano said he was a big fan of my Columbia Basin College Basketball team based in Pasco, Washington after I called him an assclown over Twitter. Lmao.
What is “stupid” (your words) is the trade proposals involving Turner, Leonard and even Harkless - WHO WANTS THESE GUYS LET ALONE THEIR HORRIFIC CONTRACTS? No team - we’d have to add a #1 pick to one of these wealthy players to move them.
In this day and age of social media why can't everyone get together and IGNORE him. When his bosses see he has no twitter activity at all they'll understand how much people hate him.
My observations of the second half of this past season: 1. Dame earned being named 1st team all NBA; 2. CJ took steps forward to becoming an All Star (if playing in the East anyway); 3. While the streak was fun, it is true we played good teams with their top star out; 4. Nurkic is worth re-signing but he’s not an All Star and plays weak, not strong. Hoping with another year or two under his belt he will improve. There were several nights he flat out disappeared; 5. I’m convinced the combination of Dame / CJ does not have the required chemistry nor defensive prowess to work - one needs to be traded provided we get high return; 6. I give Stotts one more year but Neil should have gone long ago.
Not sure why I’m giving credence to this thread, but if there was a way you could get Donovan mitchel and Ingles in a trade that included Dame, would you think about it?
There's a deep underlying logic involving moving some other bad salaries away from teams receiving those guys as well as just compensation for any long-term salary/talent differential. Apparently you cant see that even though I usually explain the logic for each side. Deals that are much more realistic then the one you proposed. Most of my trades have a 1st round pick going out with those guys. So what are you talking about? You think Harkless is a horrific contract? Lmao. LTGTP.
1. We know 2. He was actually better last season. 3. For the most part 4. He played pretty strong the last 50 games of the season when he shot 55% from the field and scored almost 20ppg per 36. Oh yeah, I forgot your basing everything off the first 30-some games as you did with Harkless. 5. They both improved defensively last year and were part of a top 8 defensive team. How'd that happen, then? And you claim they have no chemistry... what? 6. They both should have been.
