Maybe this should be in the girly stuff you do thread, but went a saw "A Star is Born" with Mrs. CC and it was damned good. Going to win some Oscars.
I recently saw Blade Runner 2049 and was completely impressed. Perfect pace, perfect homage, beautiful cinematography, nice little twist at the end. Harrison Ford was an actual character instead of whatever he was in The Force Awakens. I liked it.
Looking forward to seeing that one myself. On my flights last week, I saw Creed (****), Lady Bird (***), Downsizing (**^), I Feel Pretty(**), The Italian Job (***^), Rampage (***), and Red Sparrow (***^). I'm an easy grader.
Creed was the shit. Waiting for Creed 2. I have seen Downsizing. Good movie. The Italian Job is always fun to watch. They were going to make a sequel the Brazilian Job but it hasn't happened. Rampage was what I expected lots of action with comic relief, not a lot of story. Haven't seen the other three.
Which Downsizing movie did you like best--the first half of it, which was actually about the idea of "getting small" and living in a big person's world, or the second half which was all about climate change and community activism? Movies which completely change their identity mid-film really frustrate me.
Just picked up Solo A Star Wars story last night. It was entertaining and continued the Star Wars saga, which I have been a huge fan of over the years and I expect a sequel eventually.
I really liked the first Star Wars and it's been downhill, in my opinion, ever since. By the way, I was one of the very first people to see the original Star Wars back in I believe, 1977. Was the third person in the door of the theater having the first showing in Oregon, the West Gate theater in Beaverton. Of course, this excludes any pre-views.
Red Box is everywhere lanny. What source do you use for rentals. I think one of the last standing independent video stores is not to far away from me on about 42nd and Belmont. Very unique store with all sorts of memorabilia and very rare movies. The Hollywood Theater foundation purchased to store a few years back from the original owner.
The director and screenwriter changed the ending - for the better. It was the reason I didn't care for the book: "Though "Leave No Trace" is based on Peter Rock's novel "My Abandonment," which in turn was inspired by a true story, Granik and Rosellini, who worked on the script for four years, have made shrewd revisions to the second half which enhance the story's draw without falling into obvious narrative traps." They made other, more subtle changes, but changing the ending was enough to turn a bad book into a good movie. BNM
It hasn't been made into a movie (yet), but I enjoyed the play, The Book of Mormon, much more than the book. BNM
