I don't think Charlotte would do that. I know I wouldn't if I were them... To give up the #9 to dump 1 year of Lance & have a 1 year rental of Batum is paying a LOT. (I don't think Charlotte would have any chance to resign Batum). If Aflallo opts in, I could see a straight trade between the two (AAA for Lance).
I wouldn't do that. I wouldn't touch Stephenson with a 20' lance unless he was coming with their pick, regardless of who we sent.
I'd rather do Gerald Henderson+Lottery pick for Batum than Stephenson. Henderson has had a pretty consistent career and is a slasher on an expiring deal making only 6mil.
That is the problem though. Batum is not going to bring back the #9 pick alone.... and especially not a decent player in addition to the pick. No way Charlotte even considers this for a second.
Well, looking at Charlotte's roster, is there a rookie that makes them better than Batum would? Batum makes them an instant playoff team probably. Charlotte is super young, they need good vets. Look at their roster: Kemba / Roberts (Idk if Mo is gonna be on their team next season) Lance / Henderson / Daniels MKG / Hairston Zeller / Vonleh Al / Biyomba If they added Batum and bumped MKG to the 2 and bring Lance off the bench they'd look pretty good.
If he is a lockdown defender does it matter? The Grizzlies have gone on some deep runs with Tony Allen at the 2. MKG is also only 22, he has time to become a decent shooter.

History shows that you might think twice about drafting a Duke player. Alaa Abdelnaby Cherokee parks Bobby hurley Christian Laettner Seth cury Danny ferry Shelden Williams Rodney Hood Nolan Smith The list goes on....
Not sure laettner deserves to be on that list. He had a pretty decent career. Hurley was showing flashes before his accident too
Don't know why Laettner or hood would be on there. And it ignores brand, Irving, hill, etc. It's a meme that should die really.
You could say this about almost any college. Or, you could just say, "history shows that you might think twice about drafting an unathletic and/or undersized player." Seriously, how many of the players listed here were considered to be major NBA stars?
Jabari Parker went down also I just didn't think it be fair to put him on the list. It's just when you draft a Dukie often times it's bad luck.
Kyrie Irving Carlos Boozer Grant Hill Shane Battier Luol Deng Elton Brand Corey Maggette JJ Redick There's 2 sides to every coin my friend
Don't you guys think that POR/CHI should swap picks (23 and 22, respectively) just for the obvious reason?
What's wrong w/ Hood? He's a good player that can play 2 positions & a hell of a shooter + he's only going to get EVEN better. IF we could get him on our team... I'd EASILY make him our starting 2, move Wes to 3, & dump Batum (in the past, I never would've said this but he doesn't seem loyal to us these days).
