MTV'S "The Real World" in Portland

I actually really liked Real World when I was a kid because it started out with MTV putting 8 interesting people in a house together and taping the shit.

Then they started casting the different roles.

The gay person.

The virgin.

The frat house guy.

The opinionated black girl.

The wild guy who doesn't give a shit.

etc etc etc

That's when it stopped being interesting and I stopped watching, but I blame Real World for ruining MTV. It was the beginning of the end for "Music Television".

And as we get older, watching young idiots party and fight isnt entertaining anymore.

 

Well, sadly, it's reality tv that's ruining television. It has extremely low overhead, and yet it's very popular and gets good ratings.

There's something wrong when the history channel has a Pawn Stars marathon on Presidents day. There's something very wrong when "The Learning Channel" changes their name to "The Lifestyle Channel" and only shows crap like Honey Boo Boo and Gypsy Weddings.

 

Speak for yourself......... this is EXACTLY the reason I'm addicted to S2!

 

I agree that 99% of Reality TV is crap, but there are some good shows like Amazing Race.
