I actually really liked Real World when I was a kid because it started out with MTV putting 8 interesting people in a house together and taping the shit. Then they started casting the different roles. The gay person. The virgin. The frat house guy. The opinionated black girl. The wild guy who doesn't give a shit. etc etc etc That's when it stopped being interesting and I stopped watching, but I blame Real World for ruining MTV. It was the beginning of the end for "Music Television".
Well, sadly, it's reality tv that's ruining television. It has extremely low overhead, and yet it's very popular and gets good ratings. There's something wrong when the history channel has a Pawn Stars marathon on Presidents day. There's something very wrong when "The Learning Channel" changes their name to "The Lifestyle Channel" and only shows crap like Honey Boo Boo and Gypsy Weddings.
